The NFL's Super Bowl 50 halftime show seems to be embedded with political messages. The show's headliner Coldplay came out on stage decked with rainbow colors, and Beyonce's dancers sported black berets--worn by during the '60s and '70s. Some viewers say there's a secret meaning behind the halftime show performances.
A few choice of camera angles helped audiences to see the politically charged colors. During the performance of Coldplay, singer Chris Martin went to a member of the crowd waving a gay pride flag all over his head. Moreover, there were placards collectively spelled out the words "Believe in Love."
In a report from The Guardian, it described the words "Believe in Love" as an affirmation to the same-sex marriage. Additionally, the pro-"gay" marriage moment illustrated how the sentiment of public about the issue has changed over the last few years. The color scheme and simple message might remind the country's acceptance to LGBT.
For Mic's Tom Barnes, he went further to claim that the Super Bowl 50 halftime show was "a 12-minute tribute to LGBT love."
It is also interesting to note that with more than 100 million people tuned in to the Super Bowl, performers are ensured to get their maximum exposure.
Furthermore, viewers also noticed Beyonce's political embedded performance. As a nod to the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Black Panthers, Beyonce came on stage with a Michael Jackson-inspired outfit and performed with a beret-clad dancers.
She sang her new single "Formation" on the halftime show. Moreover, the song's recently released music video is hailed as a call to arms for black women and activists.
At one point of Beyonce's performance, her dancers raised their arms in the air in a gesture referencing the black power salute by Tommie Smith and John Carlos at the Mexico Olympics in 1968.
And if there was any doubt about Beyonce's politically-charged performance, her dancers were also filmed in a video that was posted on the Black Lives Matter Twitter page. The short clip was posted shortly after their halftime show performance.
In the short video clip, the dancers hold up a sign that says "Justice 4 Mario Woods."
Meanwhile, legendary NFL quarterback Peyton Manning thanked God for helping him get the championship trophy. He acknowledged God's blessing by calling him "Man upstairs."
Speaking while holding the Super Bowl trophy on the stage after the game, the Denver Broncos QB said, "I'll take some time to reflect. And I'm going to say a prayer and a thank-you to the man upstairs for this opportunity as well."
