There can be no doubt that BMW is considered a high class automobile, and the 2015 i3 electric car could set a new standard for the road.  The 2015 BMW i3 car has achieved many a positive review, and if this type of power in your automobile is what you are looking for, hopefully you can pay the price.

The BMW i3 is a hatchback from the company that is really trying to be a game changer.  It is the first electric car with a lightweight body structure of carbon-fiber reinforced plastic, which The Car Connection says have been reserved for high-dollar exotic supercars.

The 2015 BMW i3 is a follow-up to the very popular 2014 model and it is a part of a series of "i" plug-in models like the i8 plug-in hybrid sport coupe.  Changes to this year's model include a DC fast-charging option, heated front seats, as well as satellite radio.  The experience of driving it has been called "calming", and it is designed for more big-city areas, where it will not add to the noise pollution thanks to its quiet engine.

In fact, it would appear that BMW wanted to make the i3 ideal for travel.  There is an interior that looks immaculately spacious, and the car will not only show roads but walking routes, bus schedules, train times, and other ways of transport.

The Car Connection gave the BMW i3 a 10 out of 10 for Fuel Economy and MPG, and it is the single most efficient electric car sold in the United States.  It has a 125-kilowatt (170 horsepower) electric motor that allows the i3 to accelerate well, and the motor is fed by a 22-kilowatt-hour liquid cooled lithium-ion battery pack in the floorpan.  It has a rating of 124 MPGe (Mile Per Gallon Equivalent unit, a measurement that the distance a car can cover electrically on the same amount of energy on 1 gallon of gasoline). A driver might be able to make it for 150 miles before the next fill-up, and it takes less than 4 hours to recharge to up to 80 percent battery capacity.

It has several other great features like strong regenerative braking which allows the i3 to be driven via accelerator only power.  The last time we reported on the BMW i3 was at CES 2015, with their remote-controlled valet parking system for parking cars via smartwatch.  It works when the driver activates the parking assistant using the application and then on-board lasers help guide the car to a parking spot on its own.  I am looking forward to a future where all the cars have that, and I don't think that is a standard feature for the current 2015 BMW i3.

According to Car and Driver, the MSRP of the 2014 BMW i3 is $43,350 with a lease of $589 per month.  It is possible to get a $47,200 model with range-extending generator, but both models include a destination fee of $950.
