The Walking Dead is one of those shows that can be spoiled because it is steeped in source material that is published years before the episodes air. However, the show and the graphic novels have differed in several ways, but Season 6's Season Finale, "The Last Day on Earth" is going to re-create an iconic event from the comic, and most fans are waiting with anticipation to see how the screen adaptation will turn out. This is what is known about The Walking Dead Season 6 Finale Release Date, Rumors, and Spoilers.
Episode 15, the episode before the finale, ended yesterday on a very, very dour note as most of the group is split apart all alone in the world of walkers and scavenging humans. In fact, the entire group was divided as Carol (Melissa McBride) has killed a few members of the Saviors after leaving Alexandria, and now alone. Morgan (Lennie James) is trying to find her, but had to leave Rick (Andrew Lincoln) alone as well.
Fans are expecting something in Episode 16, the Season 6 Finale, and those that want to be surprised by this spoiler should read no further. This episode is when Negan, a famed villain from the comic book source material, will be revealed, played by veteran actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Most fans who know that comic are familiar with issue 100, where Negan makes his first appearance and kills Glenn.
Knowing this, most eyes are looking to Glenn (Steven Yeun), who already had a slight brush with death in this season. His current status is being held hostage with MIchonne (Danai Gurira), who are trying to bring Daryl (Norman Reedus) home after he left to kill Dwight (Austin Amelio). As Daryl is about to attack the Saviors holding both Glenn and Michonne, Dwight, sneaks up behind him. Once Dwight says "you'll be alright", there is a sound of a gunshot and blood spattered on the screen.
It is not certain who Dwight is talking to, and if Daryl is dead. Norman Reedus told The Hollywood Reporter that "you should be very worried about Daryl". So, is it possible that the show has changed direction from the graphic novel source material and it will be Daryl that dies upon the meet-up with Negan? The show has veered away from the comic book source material on several occasions, killing characters differently, but still maintaining the basic storyline established in the hit comic book.
Negan not killing Glenn would be a big departure, as the event in the comic inspires Rick to have an all-out war with the scavengers, after conceding to defeat for a while. It is possible that Season 7 could focus on that element of the storyline, which would make for a terrific last few episodes as Rick takes back the kingdom that Negan has stolen.
What isn't in the comic is Daryl, but most fans know that this crossbow-wielding character is an invention of the screen adaptation. In spite of him being a fan-favorite, Daryl is the most expendable choice for a show that is starting to become famous for building up its character arcs, only to have them killed.
The answers will finally come to a head when Negan and Rick meet for the first time, and maybe...no one will die. Find out when The Walking Dead has its season finale with "Last Day on Earth", on Sunday, April 3rd, at 9:00 PM on AMC.
