The launching of "The Winds of Winter," the forthcoming sixth novel in the A Song of Ice and Fire series, has not yet revealed. But latest reports say book author George R.R. Martin will reveal more details about Jon Snow, who remains dead in the books.

Here's the latest update about when is the release of Winds of Winter by George R.R. Martin.

After the last episode Game of Thrones, it is clear that the storylines of the book series and the TV adaptation are diverging to a large extent. Some of the dead characters in the book series may continue to live in the TV adaption and vice versa.

One of the controversial characters in both series is Jon Snow. Viewers saw how Melisandre resurrected him in the second episode of Game of Thrones Season 6. Therefore, the character's return in the books is imperative because he seems to play a big role in the future events.

However, in Song of Ice and Fire books the character remains dead. Martin left Jon Snow dead in his last book, A Dance with Dragons, back in 2011.  As of now, the author still reserves the right to change how exactly the character makes his comeback in the book series.

An article from Time says Martin could give a lengthy explanation to readers on Jon Snow's fate. The author also dropped plenty of hints that there are other ways besides Melisandre's magic to resurrect Jon Snow.

Fans of the series say Jon Snow warged into his direwolf Ghost before his death. In the books, all the Stark children have an ability to warg. And in the last novel, Jon Snow said "Ghost" before he is stabbed by the Night's watch. Many readers believe Jon's final words hint his warging to the dire wolf. As a comparison, Jon did not utter "Ghost" in the TV show.

Furthermore, fans want to know the fate of Daenerys Targaryen. In the last novel, she was seen surrounded by a Dothraki horde. The TV show now reveals the Mother of Dragons will be taken to Vaes Dothrak in the Winds of Winter.

While Daenerys is away, Tyrion Lannister is ruling the city of Mereen. He is now investigating the Sons of the Harpy, a shadowy organization that wants to stop Daenerys' reign in the city.

Going back to the release date of Winds of Winter, rumors suggest the novel might be released next year before Game of Thrones Season 7 airs on HBO. In the mean time, check out our previous report on how to watch Game of Thrones for free online.
