It is pretty obvious from watching the last and latest trailer for Tom Clancy's The Division why the game has been delayed for so long. It is pretty clear that Ubisoft wants to create a new franchise of video game based on gritty realism and tons of atmosphere, and it looks like The Division has that, in spades. If you aren't familiar with Tom Clancy's The Division, the premise is that it takes place in New York three weeks after a lethal virus is released on Black Friday. Society falls and the President activates The Division, a top-secret unit of self-supporting tactical agents. Division agents are trained to operate independently of command, and players will delve into the world of fallen New York City, which has been overrun by clans willing to do anything to survive.
The new trailer shows how The Division are doing their best to work within the Quarantine zone, but there are those survivors of this new plague who are not so altruistic. Yes, these are the ravages that are seen in just about every post-apocalyptic story. The difference is that the story for The Division is very much in-depth, giving this new franchise as much potential as the hit Mass Effect series.
Games as massive as this are always dependent on expansion packs or downloadable content (DLC), and there will be a Season Pass, which will include all of this content available at no extra charge. According to Design and Trend, the first expansion pack is known as "Underground". This will allow the players to go underneath the streets of New York City in order to see how the epidemic has affected the tunnels, caves, and all kinds of sewer networks there. The second pack is known as "Survival", which is a "hostile environment that will challenge even the most hardcore Division players". As for the third and final expansion pack, it is simply known as "Last Stand", and the thumbnail for that has the Statue of Liberty with a skull for a face.
The wait is almost over as Tom Clancy's The Division will finally be released on Tuesday, March 8 for Xbox One, PS4, and the PC. So far, the hype for this game has been constantly growing, and it is believed that this game will be as much of a hit for Ubisoft as Destiny was for Bungie.
Those that want the Collector's Edition and Gold Edition of the games will have access to the season pass content. The Division Gold Edition costs $99 on the disc.
