Marvel’s collection of superheroes are doing pretty well on their own over on Netflix, with more than enough episodes and seasons from the likes of Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, The Defenders and The Punisher to keep viewers glued to their screens all the way till 2018. How about some of us who prefer a little bit of cartoonish nostalgia? We are glad to bring you word that Voltron: Legendary Defender Season 2 is all ready to stream on Netflix next year -- specifically on January 20, 2017.

It is more or less close to three months more before Voltron: Legendary Defender Season 2 will air on Netflix, but at least a concrete release date of the DreamWorks animated series has been laid down, as opposed to being left hanging high and dry.

The trailer which can be viewed here will obviously have a sense of connectivity between the episodes of the first season as well as what will unfold in the second season. At the end of Season 1, the different members of Voltron were scattered all over the place, and we all know how difficult it can be to track someone down in the same galaxy, let alone when the entire universe is involved. Not only that, the tension becomes thick in the air as Shiro wants to hand over the mantle of leadership to Keith, before making his way to the white light as Keith fights emotions by pleading with Shiro.

The overarching plot that concerns Voltron: Legendary Defender Season 2 would be to chart the adventures of the Paladins across the universe after they went through hell and back fighting the likes of Zarkon, Haggar and the Galra Empire in a no-holds barred and explosive battle in the first season. You could say that all of those fights were just a “preview” of things to come, as far tougher challenges are in store for the Voltron team in Season 2 as they find ways to overcome their differences and work as a team in order to defeat Zarkon once and for all. Oh yes, the universe gets saved in the process, too.

You will find that the very same voice cast in Voltron: Legendary Defender Season 1 will reprise their roles in Season 2. That means Kimberly Brooks (Princess Allura), Rhys Darby (Coran), Josh Keaton (Shiro), Tyler Labine (Hunk), Jeremy Shada (Lance), Bex Taylor-Klaus (Pidge) and Steven Yeun (Keith) will be on board, not forgetting the other voice actors in the series that comprise of Neil Kaplan (King Zarkon), Cree Summer (Haggar) and Jake Eberle (Commander Zendak).

Surely having a cartoon series that has quite a large following of viewers from the Generation X era ought to stretch for more than a couple of seasons, and we are keeping our fingers crossed for Netflix to extend the show for a longer period of time. Think of all the merchandise sales that can be associated with the Voltron: Legendary Defender series! Toy manufacturers certainly like the idea of huge robots that are movable across many different parts being sold on store shelves as these have always been very popular.
