Every year, Google hosts its large developer's conference, and it will be happening tomorrow on Wednesday on May 18, 2016. Last year, there were some big announcements like Android M and Google Cardboard, so what is going to happen for this year? The big bets are Android N as well as Android VR, and much more including New Nexus Devices.
Google I/O 2016 will begin on Wednesday on 9:30 AM PDT, and if you want to see it for yourself on live stream, you can check it out on CNET. For those who have a VR headset like the Oculus, Gear VR, as well as the Google own Cardboard viewer, you can tune in as a bonus on YouTube on Wednesday at 10 AM on Pacific time on which will have a better action of the action at several great angles, according to The Next Web. This is when the Keynote will start that will be hosted by Google CEO Sundar Pichai, and it is possible that those with a VR headset could get something more than those who watch it on a 2D screen.
So, what can be expected at Google I/O? Well, it will be the developer preview of Android N, the sequel to Android M (also known as Android 6.0 or Marshmallow). Google has already announced the start of Android N in the second beta stage a few months ago, and hopefully it will have its full name and its numeric designation.
According to PC Advisor, it is also believed that the Nexus 7 will be receiving an update. The Nexus 7 is going to be from Huawei, and the rumored specs include a 7-inch Quad-HD display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 820, Nvidia Tegra X1 processor, 4GB of RAM, 4G support, and a 3,000 mAh battery. The new Nexus devices aren't expected to arrive until September or October, and they will have Android N with it, and they could include updates to last year's Nexus 6P.
One thing that looks to be coming up is the introduction of Android VR. With Samsung Gear VR being inferior compared to Oculus, and Google Cardboard being the minimum, the news is that the Android VR will be something less powerful than the Oculus or HTC Vive, but still a step up from Cardboard and Gear VR. So what will it be? We might have to wait until the end of the week, but we should have confirmation on something new by then.
