The spectacular show of lights and sounds is the pinnacle of Fourth of July festivities. Expect there will be a host of sparkling events at the capital, Boston and many regions across the country. This year, people will celebrate the 240th US Independence Day.
On Boston, the annual Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular draws half a million people to the banks of the Charles River, making it one of the biggest and most popular fireworks shows in the country. Some people say the birthplace of the American Revolution is the perfect location to celebrate the Fourth of July. Watching the shells bursting over the water reminds people about Boston Tea Party, the Lexington and Concord and the Battle of Bunker Hill.
This year's Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular will be graced by pop star Nick Jonas and singer-songwriter Demi Lovato. Also, country act Little Big Town will perform. There will be concerts next Sunday and Monday from 8:30 to 10 p.m. The fireworks display will be on Monday only, starting at 10:30 p.m.
The Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular will be held at the DCR Hatch Shell on the Esplanade. It will be broadcasted locally on WBZ-TV from 8-9 p.m., nationally on CBS from 9-11 p.m. Check out the event's complete schedule here.
On the nation's capital, expect that there also fun activities and amazing fireworks show. In the morning, line up along Constitution Avenue with thousands of other Americans to watch the National Independence Day Parade.
The parade will begin at 11:45 a.m. It will feature everything from fife and drum corps and military servicemen and women to elaborate floats and VIPs galore.
In the evening, find a spot on West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol for A Capitol Fourth. The concert will begin at 8 p.m. It commonly features star-studded cast of musicians.
Also, this year's display will happen from the Lincoln Memorial at around 9 p.m. It is reported the pyrotechnic show will last for 18 minutes. It will be accompanied by a performance of Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture from the National Symphony Orchestra.
One of the best spots to watch fireworks display is on the National Mall. However, hundreds of thousands show up to see the Washington, D.C. fireworks, so it is best to come early to get the best vantage point.
