Microsoft launched the Windows 10 update globally on 29 July last year. All Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 users can download the latest OS for free. Now here's is the round-up everything you need to know about Windows 10's release date, features, and devices.

As of now, Windows 10 is installed in more than 200 million devices, according to the estimates from Microsoft. The number includes smartphones and tablets, not just desktop PCs.

The Redmond-based company also claimed that Windows 10 downloads are accelerating, with more than 40 percent of new Windows 10 devices having been activated since Black Friday last year.

In terms of time, users spend more than 11 billion hours on Windows 10 in December, according to Yusuf Mehdi, corporate VP of Microsoft's Windows and Devices Group.

In the breakdown of Window's 10 programs, people used the Edge browser for approximately 44.5 billion minutes. Also, Voice assistant Cortana responded to roughly 2.5 billion questions from Windows 10 owners.

Meanwhile, Microsoft launched the first patch of the year for Windows 10. KB 3133431 patch addresses a problem in which Adobe Flash Player does not load correctly in system's applications.

As for the specs and features of the new OS, Microsoft has overhauled the Windows Store for Windows 10 to improve the user interface for both customers and app developers. Users can now easily search and discover applications in the system.

One of the integral components of the Windows 10 store is Universal Apps. These applications can work across all devices of the users.

Furthermore, Windows 10's Start Menu has Live Tiles that appear alongside the traditional menu when a user clicks on the Start button. They are set to feature Skype, Weather, Mail and Store by default. Users can also customize it the way they want to arrange the programs.

The background can also be customized, as users can select which system applications to appear in the old section of the menu

Microsoft said that Windows 10 should be compatible with all devices currently running Windows 8.1, as well as a 34 smartphones. See all the devices compatible with the latest OS  here.

According to Microsoft's Nick Parker, the Redmond tech giant will offer Windows 10 devices, including tablets, 2-in-1s, premium notebook and gaming devices.

Windows 10 is available as a free upgrade for all gadgets running a genuine version of Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 for the first year of its launching.
