They say that there is no such thing as a free lunch in this world, and they might be right. However, they are dead wrong when it comes to free games. If you happen to be a Xbox Live Gold subscriber, you can be darn sure that you will gain access to a slew of features that is difficult to find on other gaming platforms.

Xbox Live Gold happens to be a subscription service for the Xbox One and the older, well aged Xbox 360 consoles. Some of the most important features would be online multiplayer access that provides you an alternative to normal bot AI when playing, and of course, free games. As the wheels of time churn, you will find that these free games will be made available at the beginning of each month.

In other words, you will never have to get bored of your Xbox One or Xbox 360, since free titles are on offer every month. Take note that these titles will not be the latest releases in the market, but at least it gives you the opportunity to broaden your horizon with different genres. If the free games are not your cup of tea, surely discounts will be able to turn your head.

One of the most highly anticipated free games that could arrive on Xbox Live Gold this coming October would be Assassin's Creed Unity. I am quite sure that any Xbox owner worth his or her salt would know all about Assassin's Creed Unity. It will introduce new changes to the well-established free-running stealth formula that the franchise is famous for. In Assassin's Creed Unity, you will play the role of the new protagonist Leonardo, being an extremely charismatic persona, delivering a level of mischief that is endearing to the masses, despite his character flaws.

Borderlands 2 might be another title that would interest you, especially if you are into a leveling system that tends to take up most of your free time. In Borderlands 2, you will be able to wield deadly abilities and enjoy an infinite amount of loot, bringing with it all of the appealing features in the original title, being fine tuned for the sequel. While the original Borderlands and its pre-sequel was fun, Borderlands 2 does rank pretty high up there among the lot, so it would be nice to see it make the cut this October.

We would also not turn down the chance to enjoy Left4Dead 2. While the title has already been available for free on Steam over a year back, hopefully Xbox owners can have the chance to enjoy this zombie apocalypse co-op shooter for free.

Last but not least, Watch Dogs might also be released for free, taking into consideration how Watch Dogs 2 is just around the corner. Hence, Ubisoft open-world hacking/ action RPG being released for free could help churn up the hype for future sales of Watch Dogs 2 when the latter becomes available.

What do you think of the possible free titles that might come with Xbox Live Gold this October?
