Akiva Goldman has confirmed that his team of writers has started their work writing the script for the next installment of the hugely successful Transformers franchise and this early, he can confirm that Transformers 5 will have two distinct plots.

Writing the Transformers 5 script are Ken Nolan, Geneva Robertson-Dworet, Christina Hodson, Lindsey Beer,Andrew Barrer, Gabriel Ferrari, Robert Kirkman, Art Marcum, Matt Holloway, Zak Penn, and Jeff Pinkner.

According to Day Herald, quoting a report by Inquisitr, one of the plots in Transformers 5 involves Optimus Prime confronting "the Creator" of the Autobots also called the Quintessons with the help of his second-in-command Ultra Magnus. The final face-off between Optimus Prime and his team will result in a fierce battle with Unicron, the dreaded leader of the Decepticons.

Die-hard fans of the Transformers series have been clamoring to see Optimus fighting Unicron in the series. This particular news that Unicron will be finally revealed in the Transformers 5 is one of the good news for fans of the franchise.

The report also cited Enstarz as confirming that the beast wars will also finally happen in the next installment of Transformers 5. There have been loud rumors that Transformers 5 will feature the machines transforming into animal beasts like in Generation 1.

Goldman himself provide some hints into the rumor when he told an interview with Deadline that some of his writers have brought up the idea of beast wars. He told the web site, "If one of the writers discovers an affinity for Beast Wars, they can drive forward on treatments that will have been fleshed out by the whole room."

G.I. Joe Crossover

Other rumors circulating is that Paramount Studios is reportedly entertaining the idea of a G.I. Joe crossover that will see Dwayne Johnson and Bruce Willis appearing on the Transformers franchise.

However the report cannot be confirmed at this time.

Michael Bay to Return in the Director's Seat

In the same Deadline interview, Goldman has confirmed that Michael Bay has agreed to return to Transformers 5 as its director. With the fourth film grossing $1 billion in the box office from its 200 million budget, it does not come as a surprise that executives at Paramount Studios want Bay to direct its new installment.

"We will look at the toys, the TV shows, the merchandise, everything that has been generated by Hasbro, from popular to forgotten iterations, and establish a mythological time line. It has been designed with a lot of visual help, toys, robots, sketches and writers and artists. After that super saturation, the writers will figure out not one, but numerous films that will extend the universe," Goldman said.

So far, only Mark Wahlberg is confirmed to reprise his role in the new Transformers 5. Megan Fox (Transformers 1 & 2) said she is interested in returning to the franchise only if Shia LaBeouf will be joining as well.

But LaBeouf has downplayed the possibility of his return for the upcoming film. He told the Franchise Herald, "It would be good to do another film but I doubt with the new changes since the third film that Megan could return you know, it might be a love war if me or Rosie both return you know its not that i don't think about it," he explained. "But no, I highly doubt I'll be back for another one. I'll do another Michael Bay film but not Transformers." LaBeaouf said.

Transformers 5 is said to be released in theaters sometime in 2017.
