Evan Turner of the Boston Celtics is expected to enter free agency next month. And one of the teams that could make an offer to sign him once he enters the market is the New York Knicks.

Turner is certainly a big asset in Boston due to his versatility as a player. With the Celtics, he averages at 10.5 points per game with 4.4 assists and 4.9 rebounds. Needless to say, it seems he has found a comfortable playing environment in Boston, NESN reported.

However, that can all change after July 1, once the NBA free agency begins. Based on Turner's contract with the Celtics, he made $3.4 million this year. But, once he becomes a free agent, he could get offered with huge deals that are just too good to pass up.

According to league insiders, one of the teams that could make this kind of offer are the Knicks. Given that the Celtics hold the No. 3 pick of the first round in the upcoming draft, the team will certainly use this position to get a high-profile player. This also means that they will have to clear up a bit of cap room to get new players for their roster. These factors could then further influence the team's decision to not give Turner a big contract.

The Knicks could then swoop in with a very tempting deal. And, aside from the offer, the New York franchise could also offer Turner the opportunity to be with other versatile players such as Carmelo Anthony, Derrick Williams, Arron Afflalo.

But then again, this will all depend on that Turner and Boston end up talking about. The athlete has already said that he enjoys playing with the Celtics and would love to remain with the team. He even said that he's willing to give a discount if that could help extend his time with the team. But, he also noted that he understands what the team is going through right now because of the upcoming draft.

"There's a lot of stuff that's going on right now," he said according to Mass Live. "I understand it. And I understand what's going to occur and with the draft picks and the young guys trying to develop and trying to get a superstar, stuff like that, I definitely comprehend it."
