Given the flurry of reports about domestic violence and the NFL, such as the case former QB Johnny Manziel is currently facing, it's no surprise that fans of the Kansas City Chiefs reacted negatively after the team drafted Tyreek Hill. After all, the wide receiver was arrested in 2014 after pleading guilty to assault charges.

The controversy surrounding Hill stems from an incident that occurred two years ago. According to reports, his pregnant girlfriend, who was 20 years old at that time, filed a complaint against the athlete after he hit her in the stomach and choked her.

But, unlike other personalities who faced the same charges, Hill admitted what he had done and is well aware of its consequences. Specifically, he understands why fans of his new team, the Chiefs, don't want him in its roster. Due to his charges, he was given three years of probation, which was almost like a deferred sentence.

"Those guys, those fans, they have every right to be mad at me," he said according to ESPN. "I did something wrong. I just let my emotions get the best of me and I shouldn't have [done] it. They have every right to be mad."

"But guess what? I [plan] to come back and be a better man and be a better citizen and everything will take care of itself," he added.

Based on his recent statements, it appears Hill has fully accepted the wrongfulness of his actions and is now ready to lead a new life by becoming a better person. He also promised Chiefs fans that he will work hard for the team.

"Gong forward, I just want people to know that I'm a hard-working kid, dedicated to what he does and really a good citizen, a good teammate and like I said, a good, hard worker who's trying to help the team out," Hill said.

Hill officially joined Kansas City this year after he was selected by the team during the fifth round of this year's draft event. Last Saturday, he was with the rest of the team for the beginning of the Chiefs' minicamp, Associated Press reported.
