According to new rumors swirling around this year's NFL draft, the Dallas Cowboys might let go of cornerback Brandon Carr in order to free up a bit of salary cap space. Replacing him, reportedly, is Adam "Pacman" Jones of the Cincinnati Bengals.

As reported by Yahoo! Sports, the cornerback's cap figure for this seasons consists of $9.1 million base salary and $4.7 in prorated bonus. Coming in at a total of about 13.8 million, Carr is considered as one of the most expensive players in the NFL.

But, this is primarily the reason the Cowboys is allegedly considering on letting him go. After all, with more cap space, the team will have a greater chance of drafting a quality cornerback.

According to CBS Sports, if the team decides to cut Carr before June 1, then it would generate a cap space of about $6.38 million. But, if they do it after that date, then they will be looking at a $9.1 million cap space.

As for his possible replacements, Dallas is reportedly targeting to sign Jones back on its team. NFL fans might remember that he used to play for the Cowboys back in 2008 before shifting to Cincinnati.

Aside from the history of Jones and the Cowboys, another factor that seemed to strengthen this rumor is an incident that happened during the previous scouting combine week. According to reports, Jones and his manager Peter Schaffer were spotted at a steakhouse in Indianapolis during the same time that executives of the Cowboys were having their dinner meeting at the establishment.

Of course, Jones' chances of returning to Dallas depends on the current negotiations between him and the Bengals. But aside from this, several teams such as the Vikings, Dolphins, and Raiders have expressed their interests in getting Jones.

For Jones, though, he said that he's open to the prospect of playing for any team.

"I want to play for any team that wants me," he said. "I'm a guy that really wants to win. I love the game of football, I'm passionate about it."

"I'm open, man, I don't have one team that I have to go to this team," he continued. "I'm pretty much open as long as we got a good chance of winning."
