After being released by the Dallas Cowboys and becoming a free agent, quarterback Brandon Weeden has found a new home by signing a contract with the Houston Texans. This, of course, means that the Miami Dolphins has lost its chance to securing Weeden.

The 32-year-old athlete played for the Cowboys from 2014 to 2015. He then became a free agent after the team decided not to resign him.

Then, last month, Fan Sided reported that Weeden visited Miami to discuss the possibility of joining the Dolphins. According to the report, the team was very interested in talking with Weeden and is also hoping on getting him for its roster. Apparently, the Dolphins was looking to deepen its quarterback roster by teaming up Weeden and Ryan Tannehill.

But, unfortunately for Miami, it seems Houston is the one that was able to benefit from Weeden's free agency. According to ESPN, he signed a contract with the team earlier this year. The deal is reportedly for two years and is worth $4 million.

With Weeden onboard, the Texans now has a very deep bench regarding its quarterbacks. Earlier this year, after announcing his departure from Super Bowl 50 champion the Denver Broncos, Brock Osweiler signed a four-year contract worth $72 million with the Houston franchise as its new starter quarterback.

But aside from Osweiler, Weeden will also be joining QBs Tom Savage and Brian Hoyer. However, according to various sources, Hoyer is expected to be traded away by the Texans in the near future.

As for the possible lineup, Houston is planning on moving Osweiler to starter position. Although he mainly served as a backup during his career in the NFL, Osweiler has acquired a bit of experience on the field especially after he temporarily took over Peyton Manning's position last season.

The more experienced Weeden, on the other hand, will serve as Osweiler's backup. With his experience and the fact that he's already familiar with the Texans offensive scheme because of his time with the team last season, he'll be able to help Osweiler adapt to his new home.

With Osweiler as starter and Weeden as a backup, this means that Savage will serve as the Texans' third-string QB.
