Fancy looking for an SUV that not only looks good, but also has the chops to ensure that it will be able to bring you through rough terrain without batting an eyelid? If you feel that your bone shaker is able to last for a couple more years on the road with the kind of daily driving routine you put it through, then the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox might be your cup of tea.

The 2018 Chevrolet Equinox has been totally redesigned and re-engineered from ground up, and potential owners would end up with an all-new vehicle which not only keeps up with the modern times, but is also a whole lot more fuel-efficient, never mind the fact that it shaves off some millimeters here and there compared to the outgoing model.

Its predecessor, the second generation Chevrolet Equinox, happens to occupy the space between both compact and midsize segments, and with the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox, the planets in the universe have been aligned properly once more, where it will jump right into the compact crossover segment fray. At first, many thought that the third generation Chevrolet Equinox will end up as a 2017 model year vehicle, but it looks like the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox will be arriving in time for the 2018 model year. As for the 2017 Chevrolet Equinox, it would most probably pick up minor updates along the way during its final model year in production.

Depending on where you stay, the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox will arrive in the US (but of course!), Canada and Mexico, while over in Central and South America will also enjoy the Chevrolet Equinox upon its release. Other markets like Russia and CIS (pending the brand’s return to the Russian market), Australia and New Zealand (in the guise of Holden) and China should also provide a fair number of buyers, as with those in tiger economies in ASEAN countries as well as in Africa.

Short of the South and North Poles, it looks like everyone will be seeing the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox on the road in due time. We have also not ruled out the possibility of the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox replacing the Chevrolet Captiva.

Expect the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox to go on sale in the spring of 2017 in the US, where it will come with a 1.5L LFV gasoline engine. Those who want more punch in the form of the 2.0L turbo gasoline engine and 1.6L turbo-diesel will have to wait until the season changes and ushers in summer.

Despite being 400 pounds lighter than its predecessor, it is still a 5-passenger vehicle that offers up to 63.5 cu. ft. of cargo space. The flared front fenders which swell into the doors will ensure that heads will turn whenever the Equinox moves, and interested parties will be able to choose from L, LS, LT, and Premier trim levels -- further confirmation from Chevrolet is required however.

There will also be a handful of driver-assistance and collision-avoidance systems as part of the new 2018 Chevrolet Equinox. Expect the MyLink infotainment system to arrive as a standard for the Equinox, with either a 7” or 8” screen to choose from. Pricing in the US for the 2018 Chevy Equinox should start from $22,000, and depending on the trim of your choice, it might end up in the high-$30,000s.
