Amy Duggar-King from ’19 Kids and Counting’ has joined the show ‘Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars’ together with her husband Dillon King.
While Duggar fans are happy to see Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar’s niece on the reality series, they are more than surprised to hear Amy speaking about the physical abuse she experienced in the past.
In a footage for the reality show’s new season, Amy says she was “picked…up by my throat, all the way up to the ceiling.” While she did not say who caused her such pain, many viewers assumed it was her husband.
In response, the 30-year-old reality TV star took to Facebook and shared a live video in which she opened about her experience on the show along with the abuse that she took in the past. According to Amy, she wants to set the record straight and assure fans that she would never date, let alone marry, a man who will show her foul, abusive treatment; she says she feels it is the “saddest thing ever.”
Amy clarified that the story she revealed on ‘Marriage Boot Camp’ does not involve her husband, Dillon. She even referred to her husband as her best friend and that the only problem they have as a married couple is communication; the couple went on the reality show to speak about such concerns and attempt to address them.
Moreover, the ’19 Kids & Counting’ alum took the opportunity to explain the incident because Dillon has been receiving hate mail; fans have also been telling her to step away from her marriage and keep herself out of harm and danger.
In a report by People, Amy is thankful for their time on ‘Marriage Boot Camp,’ saying that it was a favorable experience for the couple.
“We know it’s kind of more of a wild show than we have ever been on, but we just decided it might be a really good opportunity to work out some of our kinks and grow our relationship,” she explained.
“For us, it was nothing more than we need to learn to communicate. Dillon has a tone that drives me up the wall sometimes and when we bicker, we have to learn how to talk to each other,” Amy added. “We were friends for so long before we got married, so we always joked and said things to each other because we were just friends. Now that we are married, it’s a whole new level of respect that we had to learn.”
New episodes of ‘Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars’ will begin airing on WE TV on January 6. The new installment will feature Amy and Dillon King, along with Ashley and JP Rosenbaum from ‘The Bachelorette’ and other couples.
