The official start of the 2016-2017 NFL season is still a couple of months away but there are already predictions as to who will bag this year's Comeback Player of the Year Award. Some of the top candidates for this title include Andrew Luck of the Indianapolis Colts and the Dallas Cowboys' Tony Romo and Dez Bryant.

Giving the award to Luck will probably not come as a surprise since quarterbacks usually win this title, except for last year when Kansas City Chiefs safety Eric Berry bagged the honor. But aside from his playing position, another factor that makes Luck deserving of the title is how he was able to overcome the obstacles in his career.

Last year, he started the season with an injury to his throwing shoulder. He was then sidelined again for a couple of games in October due to a rib cartilage damage. But then, a month later, he was diagnosed with a lacerated kidney. All in all, Luck only played in seven games last season.

But then again, his injuries and dip in overall performance can also be attributed to the team, which has failed to provide the quarterback with a reliable and effective offensive line. Back in 2014, despite the lack of proper support from his teammates, he was still able to carry the Colts to the AFC Championship Game.

If Luck can manage to remain healthy this year, and regain the same fire he showed in 2014, then he will most likely get the award for Comeback Player for the Year.

But aside from Luck, other players who are vying for this title are Bryan and Romo, the respective wide receiver and quarterback of Dallas. These two, along with DeMarco Murray, were known as the Cowboys Triplets who led the league in touchdown receptions and offensive plays.

However, things changed for Dallas last year after Murray left and Bryant and Romo got injuries during the first weeks of the season. But, it seems 2016 is starting to look good for the Cowboys since Bryan and Romo are expected to return to the field in the upcoming season.

But aside from this, the arrival of running back Ezekiel Elliot, the No. 4 overall draft pick, could mean that the Cowboys Triplets will reign once again. If this happens, then either Bryant or Romo could be named as the Comeback Player of the Year for 2016.
