It is about that time of year when Google is going to really start rollout out the newest version of Android. This version, known as Android 6.0 (also known as Android M or Marshmallow) will probably be first appearing on whatever new Nexus devices that Google is slated to announce towards the end of this month. After that, it is usually a toss-up to see who gets the next version of Android next, with the rollout often coming sooner than later. One series of phones that is still waiting on the latest current version of Android, 5.1.1 is the Motorola Moto series. Here's what is known about the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update schedules for the Motorola Moto G 1st Gen, 2nd Gen, and 3rd Gen, as well as the Moto E, both 2013 and 2014 versions.
Motorola G 1st Gen, 2nd Gen, and 3rd Gen
According to Android Standard, Motorola is working on pushing out the Android 5.1.1 update to Moto G 1st and Gen and the Moto G 2nd Gen. As for the Moto G 3rd Gen, Motorola is trying to release it with inbuilt Android Lollipop OS.
Considering that Motorola rolled out the Lollipop update (Android Version 5.0) a few month ago, this was later than the expected release date. It is possible that Android M could come to the Moto G smartphones "on time", which is predicted to be somewhere around December 2015 through January 2016.
Tech analysts predict that the Motorola G 3rd Gen will be the first to receive Android M, then Moto G 2nd Gen and Moto G 1st Gen may (with an emphasis on "may") receive the Android update. If it does, then the Moto G 2nd Gen could be receiving it around January 2016 while the Moto G1st Gen would receive it around February 2016.
Moto E 2013 & 2014
According to China Topix, Motorola just recently announced that it will be releasing Android Lollipop 5.1.1 upgrade to Moto E 2015 and Moto E 2014. Last August, it was reported that Motorola is planning to update 17 devices before Android Marshmallow is announced.
As for when the Moto E, both 2013 and 2014 will be updated, it really isn't known. A recent report from Tech Radar suggested that Moto E is on Motorola's list of Android phones to update, but earlier models will have to wait longer. Another report from Android Pit has stated that the Moto E should be able to get the update "relatively quickly", and the same is said about the Moto G 3rd and 2nd Gen as well.
The Latinos Post states that version 5.1.1 is planning on coming to the Moto G 1st Gen and 2nd Gen, as well as the 1st and 2nd Gen of the Moto E. There is no specific date set yet other than "soon", but when they get the upgrades, consumers will still need to wait for Android 6.0. Hopefully it is not a long wait.
