The big question on many people’s minds would be this: When would the latest Android update arrive on my smartphone? Now that Android 7.0 Nougat is slowly but surely making inroads into the rest of the Android smartphone industry through releases on new handsets and updates on older ones, what about Motorola’s merry band of devices? This is what we will look at in greater detail and depth.
We have received word that Motorola Moto Z owners residing in China have started to receive a brand new Android 7.0 Nougat update, which will bear the build version NCC25.106-11. Staying true to the adage that it is better late than never, this particular update arrived slightly more than a month after Motorola’s official announcement of a global Android 7.0 Nougat update rollout. With the latest Android 7.0 Nougat update, the Moto Z will now be able to play nice with Google's Android-powered VR platform which is known as Daydream. Of course, there will always be some of us who are impatient and cannot wait to be notified over the air that the update has arrived. If you happen to fall under that category, just check for it manually through the Moto Z’s Settings menu.
As for folks who live in the US, the Moto Z and Moto Z Force smartphones which run alongside Verizon plans have begun to pick up the Android 7.0 Nougat update some time in the middle of November last year already, which has certainly kept their customers in North America happy. Now that even China Moto Z owners are getting their share of Android 7.0 Nougat goodness, word has it that folks living in Europe will be able to enjoy the same by the end of January 2017.
As for Moto G series owners, you will have to play the patience card, although we foresee that the Android 7.0 Nougat update should be forthcoming as well. The Android 7.0 Nougat update will bring with it 72 brand new emojis, a quick-switch feature which will make it easier to transit between different apps, a multi-window view feature, and a battery which is smarter in its function that users ought to be able to see an improvement in battery life -- theoretically speaking.
Not only that, it seems that there is another Motorola device that is being prepared for release that will arrive with Android 7.0 Nougat right out of the box -- the Moto G5 Plus. The Moto G5 Plus is said to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, making this the new generation of mid-range handsets. Accompanying hardware specifications point to a 5.5-inch Full HD display, a 13MP shooter at the back and a 5MP front-facing camera for selfies. It might retail for $388 thereabouts, again affirming its mid-range smartphone status. At least when the Moto G5 Plus hits the market, there is no longer any more wait for an Android operating system update.
