It has been a few months since Android Version 6.0 (also known as Android M or Marshmallow) began to rollout to newer devices. Samsung, one of the biggest champions of Android, should be getting Google's operating system to all of its newest devices, but the results have been very slow. This is the latest news on Android M Version 6.0 Marshmallow Release Date for Samsung Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, S6 Edge +, Note 5, Note 4, and S5 on Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, US Cellular, and Sprint.
Now that Samsung has their newest flagship out with the Galaxy S7 running Android 6.0 right out of the packaging, it stands to reason that all the other Samsung Android gadgets would need to catch up to it. A recent report from Neurogadget gives a list of what devices have it.
It would appear that last year's flagship smartphone of the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge under T-Mobile received the update as of April 11, and the Telus-branded Galaxy S6 of Canada received it as of April 18. As for the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, the one from Verizon received its update as of April 11. It can be assured that these particular devices from all their respective carriers will be receiving their upgrade, but it is just a matter of when.
The word on the Galaxy Note 5 is that only those who are T-Mobile subscribers in the United States have received their Android upgrade as of April 18. Progress looks good on the flagship phablet for this year, but what about the Note 4 or Note Edge? So far, only the unlocked Galaxy Note 4 of India received its Android M upgrade as of April 15. Again, it looks like the rollout is happening, albeit slowly.
As far as former flagship smartphones are concerned, it looks like the Galaxy S5 in the United States received its update on April 8, at least for Sprint. Considering the rule of Android upgrades is that the older devices get the upgrade last, so it could be a long while before these particular devices receive their upgrade.
Tech Radar reports that there isn't any word on whether or not the Galaxy S4, Samsung Galaxy Alpha, or Galaxy Note 3 will be receiving their upgrade. The same applies for tablets like the Galaxy Tab S2, Galaxy Tab S, and the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2.
If you have any other Samsung devices mentioned earlier, you should be getting your Marshmallow update soon, so check your "Settings" as well as "System Update" to see if it is available as of now. If it is, then you are fortunate, but the delay might have something to do with the carrier. With most of the newer Samsung flagship phones have received the upgrade, but only on certain carriers, as some receive it earlier than others, but there never has been a real fixed pattern.
