The issue with Android is that the latest version, 6.0 (also known as Android M or Marshmallow) has been out for about two months. Google really corners the new rollout by distributing it to their own devices, the Nexus, but it will be rolling out to all kinds of Android smart devices like Sony. Unfortunately, Sony is often not quick about getting the latest version of Android out to their own brand of devices, but this is what we know about the Android M Version 6.0 Marshmallow Release Date for Sony Xperia Z5, Z5 Premium, Z5 Compact, Z4, and Z3 Series for Verizon, Sprint, AT&T, T-Mobile, and US Cellular.
When we last reported on the release date for Marshmallow on the Sony Xperia series, we stated that Sony is working as fast as it can to bring this update to devices, but there is no confirmed timeline. This has been confirmed on Pocket-Lint, and we also stated that Sony has often been slow to get their Android update out.
That being said, here is a list of the devices that will be receiving the update to Android update.

It's very clear that the first to receive the Android update will be coming to the Z5 series (the Z5, Z5 Compact, and Z5 Premium) first. The rule of Android rollout is that the newest devices get the update first, and there isn't usually an exception to that particular rule. Since the Z4 was released in the middle of the Z3 and Z5, it is a safe bet that the rollout will go there. Then it will be delivered to the Z3 series, then finally the Z2.
When it is coming is a mystery, and it might depend on the carrier such as Verizon, US Cellular, Sprint, T-Mobile, and AT&T before it finally arrives.
According to the IB Times, it estimates that the release date for Marshmallow to show up on the Z3, Z4, and Z5 series might take two to three months, if not more.
Of course, it is possible to enjoy Marshmallow on the Z3 by installing CyanogenMod CM13 series custom ROM. Please keep in mind that this particular CyanogenMod is an experimental version, so unless you are technically able, you might not want to try this. Also, there have been some bugs in it, so use caution when installing.
