Good news for Sony Xperia phone users! The Japanese tech giant is now releasing Android 6.0 Marshmallow on their latest gadgets. After months of waiting, Xperia owners will finally experience the cool features of new software from Google. Now, here's what is currently known about Android M update on Sony devices.
The latest reports said the Xperia M4 Aqua owners are set to receive the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrade on their devices. Last week, Sony announced via Twitter that it would not introduce the Android 5.1 update for the M4 Aqua; instead, it will directly update the phone to the Android M.
However, the announcement did not detail any specific information about the release of Android M on Xperia M4 Aqua. Nevertheless, it is good news for users who have been craving to receive the latest firmware.
As for other Sony devices, Xperia Z5 Compact, Xperia Z5 premium and Xperia Z3+ from Turkey are expected to receive Android M update. Turkey is one of the first countries who will get the new firmware. A Facebook post from Sony Xperia Turkey confirmed the Android M update. The posted stated the rollout for Xperia Z5 handsets are "Finalised" while the rollout for the Xperia Z3+ is in "Final Stage".
With these developments, several tech experts believed Android M update will slowly roll down to other Sony Xperia gadgets around the world.
The second batch of Sony devices which will get Android 6.0 Marshmallow update are Xperia Z4 Tablet, Xperia M4, Xperia C4, Xperia Z3+, Xperia Z3, Xperia Z2, Xperia Z3 Compact, Xperia 2 Tablet, Xperia M5 and Xperia C5 Ultra.
Meanwhile, a report from IB Times claimed that Marshmallow update for T-Mobile's LG G4 with model number "H811" is apparently rolling out. Most of the LG G4 users who managed to install Android M in their devices claim they done it through LG Bridge software for PCs and Macs. This means users should probably expect the OTA rollout to pick up some steam in the next few days, and reach all of T-Mobile's G4 units, according to GSM Area. After installing the update, TMo's LG G4 owners should be able to see the new software version as "H81120I."
The latest firmware from Google gives smartphone users an opportunity to leave the slow and bug-filled Android Lollipop. Android Marshmallow brings a bunch of new and innovative features such as revamped app permissions, Google Now on Tap, Android Pay mobile payment system, and battery-friendly Doze app.
