The official trailer for ‘Arrow’ season five was shared by The CW and Warner Bros. to an eager audience at the recently concluded San Diego Comic-Con 2016. Fans took their first look at Oliver Queen and Felicity Smoak, who will be bringing together and training a new group of fighters.
The footage also introduced a new menacing villain known as Prometheus.
The ‘Arrow’ season five trailer begins with Oliver thinking of the time when Laurel Lance, played by Katie Cassidy, said the following words before meeting her death: "I need you to promise me something... your instinct is always been to go alone, Olie you can't!"
Felicity offers similar counsel to Oliver, which he consequently heeds after which he agrees to "put together a new team" that includes Evelyn Sharp (Madison McLaughlin), who made an appearance in ‘Arrow’ season four as Black Canary; Renee Ramirez aka Wild Dog (Rick Gonzalez) who is also based on DC Comics, and Palmer Tech employee Curtis Holt (Echo Kellum).
These individuals are set to be recruited by the Green Arrow and will undergo training through hum. However, it will be a challenging feat for the superhero to work with the team given that his character does not do well when working in a group.
When Oliver decides to express his uncertainty over the new team, he exclaims, "These people are amateurs Felicity!"
However, she replies that the new trainees are actually taking inspiration from Oliver himself.
"I came here to work with the guy who killed Damien Darhk," Ramirez says, to which Oliver responds, "First I am going to teach you a few things," and takes down all three recruits, thanks to his speedy moves.
The ‘Arrow’ season 5 trailer also offers a preview of Sara Lance and John Diggle, as it concludes with a mask-wearing individual, who is rumored to be the series’ latest villain Prometheus, decked out in a costume similar to the Green Arrow. The villain takes the life of an innocent man with his bow in the footage.
“The villain that we are introducing is a direct result of things that Oliver has done in Star City [and] calls back to a lot of things that happened in the first season of the show,” Amell previously explained. “It really grounds the show and really focuses on its core value, which is the battle to save Star City."
The ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2’ actor previously took to Twitter and shared a behind-the-scenes image of seems to be a fight scene. The photo posted on the social networking site shows the actor with blood on his body and is captioned with: “Here’s your S5 poster.”
In a Q&A session held on Twitter, Amell disclosed certain details about the new hero suit that further caught the interest of fans.
"How is the new Arrow suit treating you so far?" asked one of the show’s fans.
"Sweat. So much sweat,” the Canadian actor tweeted in reply.
Amell also opened up about filming a number of scenes with newbie actor Rick Gonzalez, greeting him with a warm welcome to the ‘Arrow’ series.
"@officialrickg is a boss. Welcome him to the family, please,” Amell tweeted. Gonzalez went on to tweet back and thank his co-star.
