‘Battlefield 5’ Big Event, Release Date and Livestream News; ‘Battlefield 4’ and ‘Battlefield Hardline’ Get Free DLC

What is next for latest Battlefield Game? EA/DICE

EA certain has a good thing going with their Battlefield series.  Star Wars Battlefront is certainly a major success, but Battlefield 4 was riddled with bugs upon release.  These have been taken care of, but a lot of people didn't really get into the cops and robbers style of Battlefield Hardline.  The series has to compete with Call of Duty, and since their upcoming game of Infinite Warfare goes into the stars, the latest Battlefield game, which might be Battlefield 5, might keep the troops on the ground.  We'll find out at the "future of Battlefield" in just a few days, and this is information on the Big Event, Release Date, and Livestream News.

According to the Examiner, Electric Arts (EA) is offering free downloadable content for both Battlefield 4 and Battlefield Hardline as a celebration for a new Battlefield game that will be releasing later this year.  These dual offers are good until May 10th to all Battlefield warriors on platforms of Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, as well as Origin for PC.  Each game features new community missions like melee kills or heist score, and players can earn a free gold backpack.

The expansion for Battlefield 4 is known as The Dragon's Teeth, and it will offer four new Battlefield 4 maps, a Chain Link game mode, as well as a controllable unmanned vehicle gadget with a machine gun and grenade launcher.

As for Battlefield Hardline, it has an expansion known as Robbery which also brings about four new maps, a Squad Heist game mode, new weapons and gadgets including a throwing knife, as well as a Legendary Super Feature that is similar to the Prestige system in the Call of Duty series.

It's pretty clear that EA wants players to scoop up this deal as it is possible to download the free DLC even if you did not purchase the base game.  EA is running a sale on games in the Battlefield franchise for up to 60 percent off what is on the Xbox Store, PlayStation Store, or Origin for the PC.

So, with all this great expansion for Battlefield 4 and Battlefield Hardline, what is EA gearing up for with this next Battlefield game?  Perhaps this is a sign that Battlefield 5 is on its way.  Gamerant states that the actual content of the next Battlefield game is being kept under wraps for now, but EA has confirmed that the game "will return to Battlefield's militaristic roots".

Some are hoping that this means that Battlefield will be returning to World War II, but there was a leak from Swiss retailer World of Games two months ago revealing a possible release date of October 26, 2016.  This World of Games listed Battlefield 5 as "Mehrspieler Taktik Shooter im 1. Weltkrieg," or "Multiplayer tactical shooter in WW1" when translated into English.  Like the possible release date, this description has been removed.

Fortunately, we won't have to wait too long for the latest news of Battlefield, as Gotta Be Mobile reports that EA has a ticking countdown clock for an event that takes place on May 6 at 4 PM Eastern (1 PM Pacific) time.  For those that want to live stream the event, it is available on Twitch

So, how will this big event deliver what it promises with "the future of Battlefield"?  Is this event going to give us an actual release date for Battlefield 5, or whatever the next game will be called?  It would not surprise me if it did, or it might just promise that a release date will be given at E3 2016.  The big video game convention is a good place for a spotlight on anything video game related, and it will be a time where fans and media will get to see the gameplay on display before what looks to be a holiday release date.
