Infinity Ward dropped a serious bomb on Call of Duty Fans yesterday as it announced the thirteenth iteration of the Call of Duty franchise with Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. The trailer can be seen below, and it truly takes the game into new levels as the soldiers are fighting space invaders on the ground and in space. This is what is known about Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and Legacy Edition Release Date, Story, News, and New Trailer for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
The trailer can be seen below, and the action looks like something out of an Independence Day film. It begins with spaceships invading planet Earth, and troops are doing the best they can in order to stop them on the ground. Yeah, it doesn't go so well.
The Verge reports that the invading force isn't necessarily alien. The forces are the Settlement Defense Front, an insurgency that seceded from the United Nations Space Alliance as humanity is in some sort of era of space colonization.
Then the action shifts as the player can get in a spaceship and head into space. I don't know if there is actual gameplay footage, but it looks very awe-inspiring to actually be in space, even if it is for gritty space combat. Note there are scenes of fighting in zero gravity, and taking on some enemy in space. Infinity Ward promises that the boots-on-the-ground action with the space action is a seamless experience, and something tells me that this franchise could pull it off without looking too much like Independence Day: Resurgence.
Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare has three unique game modes. The first is the campaign which returns to the roots of what made the franchise so great in the first place. Then there is multiplayer for really taking on the aliens in groups. Then there is the cooperative Zombie mode with an all-new storyline.
Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare will be available as the Infinite Warfare Legacy Edition, which includes the return of the full campaign and 10 multiplayer maps from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, released in high definition as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare raised the bar as far as what combat video games could be, so it stands to reason that Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is going to raise that level even higher.
Call of Duty fans will have to wait until the holiday season as Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and the Infinite Warfare Legacy Edition will be released on Friday, November 4 for the Xbox One, PS4, and PC. Pre-order information is already up on the Call of Duty store now.
