When the Chevrolet Camaro went back to the Z28 for the fifth generation of its line of cars, drivers were undoubtedly impressed. The fact that the company wants to take the Z28 into the sixth generation is going to be more impressive, and here is what is known about the Chevy Camaro 2016 Z28 release date, specs, and review.
The first development that has been made for this sixth generation of Camaro is that the 2016 Camaro is under the GM Alpha platform. For those that are not aware of this, it currently underpins General Motor's compact to mid-size, front-engine, rear-wheel and four-wheel drives. The Platform basics include MacPherson struts on the front, 5 link independent rear, use of high strength steel and aluminum, plus a focus on reducing weight.
According to the Car Specs YouTube site on the 2016 Camaro Z28, there hasn't been any information about its engine released yet. However, judging by the 2015 edition of the Camaro Z28, which has a V8 7.0 liter to produce 505 horsepower, with 470 lb-feet of torque. The thing that Chevrolet will probably improve on the 2016 model is the drivetrain.
Many improvements for the 2016 model will most likely be in the exterior. It will have the same body line that has made the Chevy Camaro a household name, but the car weight will be lighter as it has a smaller body than that of its predecessor. Smaller seems to be what is going to happen this year and this will probably translate to faster. There is a rear spoiler on the back which will increase the car's performance.
The one thing that isn't seen on the previously mentioned Car Stats YouTube Video is the interior. If it is anything like Camaros of the past, you can count on elegance as well as sleekness on the seats or the dashboard, as quoted by Day Herald.
Road and Track had a chance to look at the 2016 Bumblebee Camaro, and they describe the exterior as being both leaner and "angrier" than the 2015 edition. Part of it is the sleeker roofline as well as the shorter wheelbase, and the headlamps are deeply recessed in split upper grill. The headlights also look a little bit like the 2015 Mustang. It doesn't feel right to say that, as any fan of the Camaro knows that the Mustang is the mortal enemy of the Camaro, a rivalry that has existed for decades.
Of course, one of the big questions about the Chevy Camaro Z28 2016 is will there be special editions like Transformers? Considering that the yellow model is called the Bumblebee edition due to the fact it is the car that Bumblebee transforms into in the Transformers movies. Although this was true for the 2014 model as seen in this movie tie-in commercial, I don't seem much word on a Transformers edition of the 2016. However, the yellow model probably looks like that, so does it need the Transformers label? After all, it looks like Bumblebee with a coat of yellow paint.
Perhaps what auto-philes should be looking to is a Superman edition. According to Torque News, General Motors has filed trademark applications for both a Camaro Krypton for use with motor land vehicles. This looks like there could be some kind of 2016 Chevrolet Camaro coming, so why not the Z28?
Since we all know that Krypton is the planet where Superman is from, this could signal some kind of special edition of the Camaro. Considering that Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice is due out in theaters in March of next year, I would be willing to bet my kryptonite on a Superman edition.
Since the 2016 Camaro Z28 is under development, there is no word about the release date or price, according to Newest Cars 2016. There is also no word on the rumored Transformers and Superman editions. Chevrolet will be certain to make a formal announcement on this one, so we can look forward to knowing that vital information as well as what the interior is like.
