There are some fictional villains that we simply love -- and Wilson Fisk, a.k.a. Kingpin, is one of them. Kingpin might not have any kind of superpowers, but in the Marvel Universe canon, he is a highly trained martial artist with majority of his bulk being pure muscle. In fact, Kingpin was once seen in the comics to be able to go against Captain America in hand-to-hand combat and was actually crushing Cap before providence stepped in to disengage the bear hug given. Well, will Wilson Fisk make a return to Daredevil Season 3 on Netflix?

They say that the best way to find the answer to any question is to approach the source itself -- and what better way to do so than to ask actor Vincent D’Onofrio who plays the role of Wilson Fisk in the Netflix series? Unfortunately, it seems as though D’Onofrio himself is pretty much in the dark, just like the rest of us, when it comes to Kingpin’s return in the third season of Daredevil.

Rumors have been going around from time to time concerning what Daredevil Season 3 on Netflix will deliver, ranging from the story arc to the return of Kingpin. After all, Season 2 of Daredevil did end on a rather high note, and throughout that season, viewers were treated to an ever changing storyline that saw the introduction of enemies as well as forging of alliances -- with all of these happenings centered around Matt Murdock’s life and his team.

Vincent D’Onofrio did make a rather brief appearance as Wilson Fisk in Daredevil Season 2, but when approached as to whether the Kingpin will continue with more than just a cameo in the third season, D’Onofrio provided a non-answer despite having some verbal feedback. He shared, "He will [be back], eventually. Honestly, I wish I knew ‘cause I could plan my year better. I know he will come back, I just don’t know when. I can’t wait to find out. I’m totally into the Marvel stuff, big time. I want to do Marvel, all the time. I love it so much ‘cause they’re so creative over there. They let you bring this whole new thing to an iconic thing that they invented. It’s just so much fun. I love it to death. I want to see Captain Marvel and Wonder Woman. There’s something about those movies. I dig the shit out of them. I’ve been tweeting back and forth with James Gunn, about doing something with him because I love Guardians Of The Galaxy so much."

When approached about what Charlie Cox, the man who plays the role of Daredevil himself, would like to see how Season 3 develops, Cox informed ScreenRant, "I can’t imagine doing a run of Daredevil where Bullseye doesn’t show up at some point. It’d be great if at some point Vincent D’Onofrio would come back for a season. There’s so much Daredevil-Wilson Fisk left untold." Are these actually hints dropped to serve the larger breadcrumb trail for us Daredevil watchers who are on the sidelines?

Only time will tell, and as to when Daredevil Season 3 will be released, only Marvel knows. After all, Marvel has this tendency to maintain their Netflix TV series on a six month schedule thereabouts. With Iron Fist being in production at the moment, that ought to debut this Spring, and The Defenders that will see the likes of Daredevil, Luke Cage and Iron Fist together could push Daredevil Season 3 back even farther -- perhaps to the tail end of 2018. Who knows?
