DiRT Rally is a game that has a following, but the release date for the PS4 and Xbox One has been shrouded in mystery. The game is a very authentic off-road racing experience for gamers, and its success with Early Access on Steam has had some fans wanting to just go to the store and buy it for their console. There is a possible release date for the PS4 and Xbox One, as well as a way to download the online racing game for free.
The DiRT Rally game can be purchased on the Steam Store right now for a price of $49.99, but it is an Early Access Game. Steam has many of these types of games, and they will "evolve as you play them, as you give feedback, and the developers update and add content". The good news is that Early Access involves a full purchase of a playable game, and the user gets access to the game even if the game later moves from Early Access to fully released.
The keyword in the last sentence was "even if", and it looked like DiRT Rally was never going to be fully released. Generally, most video games that are expecting a release at the time are trying to take advantage of the holiday sales, but there has been no formal announcement of a release date of DiRT Rally from the company at this time in October.
Going to the official DiRT Rally website is also not much help, but there is a Timeline there that focuses more on bringing updates to the game rather than when the game will be released. It almost looked like DiRT Rally was going to spend its days in "Early Access Limbo", and perhaps never have a formal release date. Perhaps Codemasters was following some new business model where they just develop the game as players play it, using feedback to make updates. It is actually not a bad strategy, really.
However, according to Game Pressure, it looks like there is a Release Date for DiRT Rally, but it is marked as PC, along with all the other soon to be released games in their queue. However, in this queue are other games specifically marked PC that will be coming to the console like Fallout 4 and Star Wars Battlefront. According to them, the release date looks to be slated for February 2016, so it should be available then for the Xbox One and PS4, but like the last word of a release date, this could change.
There are presently a lot of websites that are offering DiRT Rally download for free, including Ocean of Games and Softonic. Considering that the game is being sold on the Steam Store, the Gospel Herald does not recommend going to these sites for a free download of DiRT Rally for legal reasons, not to mention certain sites offering free downloads can often bring viruses to your computer.
