In week eight of their video devotional series, "Duck Dynasty" daughter Sadie Robertson and her best friend Kolby Koloff spoke about having confidence in Christ and how assurance can help you mature in your walk with the Lord.

Since becoming one of the most popular reality television shows in history, "Duck Dynasty" has given the Robertson family an opportunity to share their faith both on and off the set. Sadie Robertson, one of the eldest in the third generation of Robertsons, has received a large amount of attention for her beautiful modesty and genuine faith. She and Kolby Koloff, the daughter of Christian speaker Victoria Koloff and a traveling evangelist on "Preachers' Daughters," have used their fame to encourage others to seek Christ.

Hebrews 10: 35 says, "So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded" (New International Version).

"Such a small verse, but such a powerful message," says Sadie - the reality television star wrote this verse on a dry-erase board last year to encourage herself to be confident in her faith. She attests that she has matured in her walk with the Lord by reminding herself of this promise every day. "I'm just more confident in sharing [God's] message with people," she says - "I know that if I wouldn't have done that ... and prayed to God and asked Him to help me with [having confidence in Him], then there's no way I would be doing The New Different." In addition to doing weekly devotional videos with Kolby, Sadie has spread the Good News of Jesus Christ with other Robertson family members at various events.

Reading verses 32-39 of Hebrews chapter 10 will help give a better context for what the passage is saying; Christians can be assured that they have an infinitely glorious hope in Christ, and having confidence in our faith will give us the endurance that we need to persevere through trials and persecution. Christians can be confident that Jesus Christ is Who He says He is, and that He will fulfill all that He has promised to His people - notably, to never leave nor forsake us, to work through all things for our good, and to bless those who are persecuted for His sake (see Hebrews 13:5-6, Romans 8:28-39, and Matthew 5:10-12).

When faced with peer pressure at times, we can be confident that Jesus Christ is Lord of all and that He is the redeemer of those who hope in Him. The Christian life is not easy; in fact, Jesus promises us that we will suffer for His sake (see 2 Timothy 3:12). Following God's ways will lead us into more joy and peace than going after what the world may think is pleasurable, however.

"My confidence will be rewarded in Christ," says Sadie. Though we may face heavy persecution for our love for the Lord and for holding Biblical values, we are called to live lives filled with much deeper and lasting joy than the fleeting pleasures that sin can bring. Christian, remember - Jesus said,

"I have said these things to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world" (English Standard Version, John 16:33).
