'Walking Dead' Season 6, 'Fear the Walking Dead' Prequel: Spoilers, Release Date and News

By Mark Rollins

AMC's runaway hit show The Walking Dead is returning for Season 6 this Fall, and before that, there will be a prequel show Fear the Walking Dead.  This is what is known about Fear the Walking Dead and The Walking Dead Season 6 Spoilers, Release Date, and other news.

With Fear the Walking Dead taking place in the same universe as The Walking Dead series, Robert Kirkman, the executive producer behind The Walking Dead Series as well as creator of its comic book source material, has implied that the a key addition to the mythology of this universe will be revealed in Fear The Walking Dead.  According to the International Business Times, it is possible that characters from Fear the Walking Dead will meet up with things that Rick and his survivor friends have encountered in the past.

For those who think that Kirkman is going to introduce some kind of scientific cause for why the zombie apocalypse is happening, he has told people at the National Association of Broadcasters that this won't happen.  Robert Kirkman, has also stated that Fear the Walking Dead deals with "watching the world crumble around them, and people are very much unprepared for this world that they're in and having to very quickly adapt", according to Geek.com.  This is a very different beginning from the first episode of The Walking Dead which featured the main character waking from a coma into a world filled with zombies, and he never actually saw the fall of civilization as he was "asleep" for it.

According to Cinema Blend, the show will feature Cliff Curtis as Sean Cabrera, an ex-gym teacher who is in a relationship with a guidance counselor named Miranda.  The part of Miranda will be played by Kim Dickens, who is a basic "girl next door with an edge to her", according to The Latino Post.  Miranda (some sources call her Nancy) has two children from a previous marriage with a dysfunctional Nick (played by Frank Dillane) and ambitious daughter Ashley (Alycia Debnam Carey).   It looks like Sean will have some family members along for the zombie ride with a flower child ex-wife name Andrea, as well as a son named Cody.

As for Season 6 of The Walking Dead, MTV revealed that AMC has a poster made specifically for Comic-Con, but it has already gone online.  There is a lot that can be shown about Season 6 of the The Walking Dead on it.  For example, it was pretty clear that in the Season 5 finale, that Morgan (Lennie James) has come back, and he was pretty shocked by some violence that Rick (Andrew Lincoln) has committed.

The big thing that can be discussed about Season 6 Finale will be what is known as the Alexandria face-off.  For those that aren't aware, The Walking Dead comic book featured a story where Rick and his group of survivors see a city known as Alexandria, and settle down in it for a while.  At first, it looks like civilization has finally come back, but Rick and his friends bring in their PTSD issues in.  Not only does it stir up Alexandria, but eventually, the zombies come and really crash the party.

In the comic, it was after the Alexandria incident that Rick and his team met Negan, who is essentially a mob boss leader in this post-apocalyptic zombie world.  There were rumors that he will show up in Season 5, but that didn't happen.  Morgan, Daryl, and Aaron did see some people on the road that could be Negan's cohorts.  So are we looking at a Negan/Alexandria storyline?  It could happen on TV.

The Latino Post says that there will be the arrival of the Wolves, a sadistic group of survivors who could be the main antagonists for the next season, are the scenarios fans should watch out for. There is also a possibility of a romance between Rick and Jessie (Alexandra Breckenridge), even though Rick just murdered the father of her children.

Season 6 of The Walking Dead will begin on AMC on either October 11 or October 18, 2015.  I realize that for some of you, that might be a long wait, but the spinoff series, Fear the Walking Dead, should be out sometime in August.  The spinoff series doesn't have many episodes, and all of Season 1 could air before The Walking Dead begins.
