Ex-porn star Crissy Outlaw - formerly Crissy Moran - has shared how she immediately quit the adult film industry after God revealed Himself to her in an incredible way.

Crissy, once one of the most successful women in the porn industry, recently shared her story of hope and redemption with Lucas Miles, host of "The Lucas Miles" podcast.

"I never planned on going into the sex industry, never thought of it as an option," she said. "I grew up in a broken family My parents had a very bad relationship, my dad was an alcoholic. There was a lot of chaos in our home. They ended up divorcing."

At that time, Crissy, who was also sexually assaulted as a little girl, fell into a deep depression: "I feel isolated and alone," she said. "I started to find that having relationships with men filled this emptiness I had."

In 11th grade, the teen found out she was pregnant after losing her virginity to her boyfriend.

"He told me that if he ever got me pregnant that we would get married and have our baby," she said. "The desire in my heart - deeper than anything I ever felt - was that I wanted to be mom and a wife. I wasn't very careful when it came to being sexual with this person."

However, Crissy's boyfriend quickly changed his mind after finding out about her pregnancy, and took her to get an abortion before breaking up with her.

"As a 17 year old girl who wanted nothing more than to have a family, it totally broke my heart," she said. "The depression that I had increased, the feelings of unworthiness increased."

She barely graduated because of her depression and anxiety, and after leaving high school moved in with another boyfriend. Soon, she began working for Hooters - a restaurant known for its scantily-clad waitresses.

"That's when porn showed up in my life," she said. "Everything revolved around sex."

Desperate to feel loved, Crissy began dating a string of men - and all of them would bring porn into the relationship.

"I'd think, 'that's who I have to be in order to get attention, that's who I have to be in order to gain love. That's who I have to be for these men to respect me,'" she said.

After posting a picture of herself on a web page advertising for models, it wasn't long before Crissy rose to success as a porn star. Over her six-year career, she posed for Playboy and even set up her own website, which made over $15,000 a month.

Despite her success, Crissy felt desperately unhappy, unloved, and alone.

"I thought, that if there is a God, he didn't love me," she said. "And if he did love me, why are all these bad things happening?' I was so broken down. I thought ...'Who cares what I do with my life now?"

She added, "I thought, 'maybe someone will rescue me.'"

One night, she fell to the floor and cried out to God, broken by her relationships and unsure of where to turn.

"I fell on the ground in the kitchen and I just started crying," she said. "And I was like, 'God, if you're real I need to know; you have to send me a sign so that I know that you're real because everything I know about love is twisted and perverted and just not right."

"I pleaded and I cried almost all night...God was there in the midst, listening to me and hearing my cry."

A short time later, while visiting her boyfriend on a film set, Crissy was surprised when a man named Chris refused to look at a topless photo of a crew member's wife that was being passed round.

After talking to Chris and admitting that she was a porn star, Outlaw found out that her boyfriend had already told everyone and shown nude pictures of her to the crew.

Instead of shaming her, Chris asked her: "Do you know Jesus? You don't have to live like this, you can change your life. Jesus can help you, you need to repent and turn away."

Chris asked her if she wanted to go outside and pray. Immediately, Crissy said yes.

"I cried, and I knew I was done," she said.

After embracing Christianity, it was easy for Crissy to leave the porn industry. She began visiting a therapist and attending a local church, where she met her husband-to-be, Lawton Outlaw - a youth pastor at the time.

The two married in May 2013, and today, Crissy travels around the country to tell others of her experience.

"I made tons of mistakes but entering porn was one of the biggest ones," she told the MailOnline. "This mistake is out there forever but I've come to peace with myself and who God has made me to be."

Crissy also shares her story in the docu-series, "Ten Million Throwaways", which exposes the horrors of the adult film industry - including how it directly links to human sex trafficking, which generates $32 billion every year.

"People don't often associate porn with sex trafficking, but it's actually the direct opposite," film director Andrew Douglas told The Gospel Herald. "After consuming porn for so many years, the natural progression is to seek out physical experiences. The next stop would be a prostitute or trafficked women."

He added, "The stories that we heard were quite emotional. I hope this documentary educates those who watch it. When parents look at porn, I hope they think, 'This is someone's daughter.' It sounds cliche, but that's the truth. There's a lot of horrible things happening. I hope it opens their eyes and they think twice."
