Evangelist Franklin Graham has called Planned Parenthood a "Hitleristic organization" whose conduct is "insidious, evil, unjust, and even criminal" and called on lawmakers to "end this wholesale slaughter of innocent life."
Graham, the leader of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and Samaritan's Purse, voiced his disgust at the leading abortion organization in a lengthy Facebook post.
"Planned Parenthood-the country's largest abortion provider-received over $353 million in private donations according to a recent annual report," he said. "Why on earth would Congress give them another $550 million in government grants and reimbursements? In a recent three-year period, Planned Parenthood killed nearly one million babies in the womb-what a tragedy."
The evangelist continued: "Taxpayer dollars, withheld from American paychecks should never be used to fund a Hitleristic organization whose conduct many see as insidious, evil, unjust, and even criminal. How do they keep on slaughtering little ones, and yet portray themselves as health clinics? Death is their prescription."
Graham ended his post by urging conservative lawmakers in Congress, both Democratic and Republican, to "stand together to do the right thing and end this wholesale slaughter of innocent life."
"Every life is precious to God, and should be to us as well," he said, and encouraged 5.3 million Facebook followers to "call or email your Congressional member and your two U.S Senators today and tell them not to give one more penny to Planned Parenthood!"
Meanwhile, 215 rallies protesting Planned Parenthood are scheduled for Saturday at clinics in 44 states and the District of Columbia, according to The Christian Post. The outlet notes that another rally will be held at the London headquarters of the International Parenthood Federation, which was defunded by President Donald Trump's executive order last month.
According to the event website, #ProtestPP organizers are praying to put an end to "Planned Parenthood's massive government subsidy" and to abortion in the U.S.
"The time has come to defund America's abortion giant!" the website says. "Planned Parenthood is the nation's largest abortion chain, killing over 300,000 babies each year, and nearly half of their billion dollar budget comes from our tax dollars. But now the new 115th Congress is moving to strip Planned Parenthood of that money."
Protest Planned Parenthood organizers want to see "all current federal funding for Planned Parenthood...redirected to Federally Qualified Health Centers that do not perform abortions."
On January 23, President Trump reinstated the "Mexico City Policy," an order first established in 1984 by the Reagan Administration which prohibited federal funding for overseas NGOs that promote abortion.
