Google has brought Android to many smartphones and tablets, but it likes to reserve the latest for its own brands, the Nexus series.  The latest version of Android, Android 6.0 (also known as Android M or Marshmallow) was recently and officially rolled out on September 29th, when Google also unveiled this year's Nexus models with the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P.  These devices are available to purchase now, and this is the latest news on the Nexus 5X and 6P Release Dates, Prices, and Specs with Special Offers.

If you are hoping to pick these devices up for yourself, you will have to go to the Google Store.  This looks like the only way to purchase them, as Fierce Wireless reported shortly after the unveiling of the new devices that Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon, and AT&T won't sell the new Nexus smartphones.

At this writing, the Google Store entry for the Nexus 5X has a limited time offer.  Pre-order a Nexus 5X and get a $50 Google Play credit, but you have to act before October 25th, and redeem it before the end of the year.

The starting price is about $379.00, and the Nexus 5X device is made by LG.  It has a 5.2 display weighing in at 136 grams. The battery is a 2700 mAh, and it has a 64-bit processor.  It also has the Nexus Imprint fingerprint scanner as well as USB Type-C.  The update to the popular Nexus 5 comes in Carbon Black, Sports White, and Ice Blue, and the Nexus 5X will be available to ship on October 22nd

As for the Nexus 6P, it is currently out of stock at this writing on the official Google Store page, and you can only join a waitlist.  It has the exact same pre-order deal with the $50 Google Play credit.  This phone was available for shipping as of October 14th.

The Starting price for the Nexus 6P is $499.  It is made by Huawei out of anodized aluminum at 7.3 mm thick with a 5.7 inch WQHD AMOLED display that comes in Frost White, Aluminum, and Graphite.  It is about the size of the iPhone 6 Plus, but it also has a USB Type-C port that can charge a device twice as fast.  It also features stereo forward facing speakers, as well as a 12.3 Megapixel "Sony imaging sensor", as well as a 5 Megapixel front-facing camera.  Also involved is the "Nexus Imprint", which is a "seamless way of authenticating using a fingerprint".

Some of you might find the prices of these phones and availability inconvenient, but this is apparently the price to pay for the latest version of Android.  If this sounds worth it, give these two new Nexus phones a try, as they could be cheaper than other new unlocked phones available around this holiday season.
