Kevin Spacey, who plays the iconic character Frank Underwood in the political drama "House of Cards," recently said that the show is nowhere near as extreme as what's happening in the real world's political environment. In addition, he also assured fans that the departure of the show's creator will not affect the quality of the series.

Fans of "House of Cards" are well aware of the fact that the show dabbles more on the dark side of politics. Led by the manipulative Underwood, the Netflix series explores how political figures employ whatever methods they can in order to rise to power.

With all of Underwood's devious actions on the show, Spacey said that he oftentimes wondered if some of the series' episodes regarding the depiction of actual politics in general. But, every time he gets a glimpse of real life, the actor then realizes than the show isn't even nearly as diabolical as what is actually going on.

"We'll have a storyline that we'll be attacking and I wonder have we gone too far?" Spacey said during a Netflix showcase event in Paris according to CNET. "Have we crossed the Rubicon? Is this unbelievable or kind of crazy? Then I turn on the television and watch the news - and we haven't gone far enough."

This could indicate that future episodes of the series may become even more surprising for viewers. And, speaking of future episodes, it was confirmed earlier this year that Netflix has renewed "House of Cards" for a fifth season. However, it seems once this premieres in 2017, it will go on without its creator Beau Willimon.

During the same time when the show was renewed for another season, Willimon also announced that he will be stepping down as the showrunner of the show. Although "House of Cards" has lost its key member, Spacey noted that fans can still expect to see the same quality shown in the previous seasons.

"He's been working non-stop since [the show] began," the actor said about Willimon according to The Guardian. "I'll miss him being there every day, but the writers' room is the same writers as in season four - nothing's changed in terms of the quality of work we're doing."
