Android 7.0 Nougat was officially released late last year, and it is nice to see it hit other non-Google devices already. The HTC 10 (which will soon be usurped by the HTC 11) is one of those flagship smartphones that have picked up the Android 7.0 Nougat update in stages, and folks over in India are starting to see glimpses of Android 7.0 Nougat arriving on their respective handsets. There is no official announcement from the folks over at HTC just yet, but a screenshot of the update page that was received by @LlabTooFeR does point to a confirmation.
Android 7.0 Nougat Update: T-Mobile, Sprint in the US, India and Europe
The Android 7.0 Nougat update for the HTC 10 will be 1.21GB in size, and in the accompanying patch notes, it did claim that there will be the other recent Android security updates thrown into the mix as well to make the Android Nougat experience a sweet one.
The HTC 10 began to pick up the Android 7.0 Nougat update some time in November last year, which goes to show just how serious HTC was in making sure that their flagship device at the very least remains at the forefront of system updates. Unlocked HTC 10 smartphones in the US were the first batch to pick up Nougat, before the other mobile carriers started to issue their own Android 7.0 Nougat updates.
T-Mobile was the first of the major carriers to do so, rolling out the Android 7.0 Nougat update for its HTC 10 customers some time on January 7 onward. Apart from that, the likes of Sprint are slightly later to the game, introducing the Android 7.0 Nougat update that weighed in at 1.3GB to its customers as recently as February 20. Now that India has also picked up the Android 7.0 Nougat update already, we are keeping our eyes peeled on whether Verizon is going to go down the same route or not.
Across the pond in Europe, HTC too, has made sure that the Android Nougat update has reached those shores early last month before it was pulled back due to the presence of unwanted bugs. The Android 7.0 Nougat update release resumed on January 24 over in the UK, although that release did not go down smoothly as expected due to additional technical faults. It took all the way until February before a smooth Nougat update release was performed in the UK.
HTC 10 Android 7.1 Nougat Update
As for Android 7.1 Nougat, this particular version of Nougat has not been confirmed for all three major carriers in the US that offers the HTC 10. This means we do not know whether HTC 10 owners who are rocking to T-Mobile, Sprint and Verizon would be able to receive Android 7.1 Nougat when it is released. More so for Verizon, as HTC 10 owners on Verizon are still stuck with Android 6.0 Marshmallow. All that Verizon's HTC 10 has at the moment are the latest HTC 10 security patches while languishing in Marshmallow territory.
