HTC One X9, coming in 2016? Phone Arena

HTC has been making some interesting moves recently as they released the One A9, which comes with Android M (also known as version 6.0 or Marshmallow) on board.  Now that the company has the HTC One A9, there has been the talk of the latest flagship with the HTC One M10.  It is possible that this other phone that has leaked, the HTC One X9, could be the replacement of the M10, or something new altogether.

Phone Arena recently reported this leaked promo image from HTC, which shows the existence of the One X9.  The poster reads "Packed with city smarts", but it isn't clear what kind of feature that this is referring to.

As for the specs, it should have a 5-inch display with Quad HD (1440 x 2560 pixel) resolution, and be powered by a deca-core MediaTek Helio X20 processor or possibly the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820.  It might also feature 4 GB of RAM, 4 Megapixel front-facing camera, 23 Megapixel rear camera, 64 to 128 GB of expandable internal memory, and a 3500 mAh battery.

There has been a lot of disagreement as far as the specs to the X9 go.  Some say it will have a larger display at 5.5 inches, with cameras with lower numbers of Megapixels like the 13 Megapixel rear.  There are reports that it won't be a high-end smartphone and the list of what it will or won't have goes on.

A separate article from Phone Arena says that the One X9 should have a release date of the first quarter of 2016 (in January-March).  Some are beginning to believe that the HTC One X9 is essentially the new M10.  The HTC launched its flagship phone of the One M9 shortly before Mobile World Congress began in March of this year, and it is predicted that the One M10 would be coming at MWC 2016 which should take place at the end of February this year.

Tech Times reports that there are some renders of the HTC One M10 being spotted.  It will be "due for an unveiling" and should run on 4 GB of RAM with 64 to 128 GB internal storage.  Many of these specs will sound similar to that of the One X9, and there are talks that the M10 could have a 6-inch screen, with a 5-inch for those that don't prefer the phablet size.  There are rumors saying that the screen will have a 4K resolution or at least 1,440 x 2,560 resolution.

The camera is going to be big at possibly 27 Megapixels.  Other features include Android 6.0 out of the box, which should come as no surprise. Also, no surprise is that it will have a USB Type-C port and a battery life of 3,500 mAh.

There are also rumors that the M10 might be called something like the HTC O2, but this could be a rumor based on the internal code name for this device.  It might also be that HTC is steering away from the M series in its name.  We definitely won't find out until around the first quarter of next year.
