Do you own the Huawei P9 with dual lens from Leica that are able to capture some snazzy looking images? Well, that’s fine and dandy, but I am quite sure that you too, would have been on the lookout for some Android 7.0 Nougat goodness on this particular handset. Good news for you then and all other owners of the Huawei P9: this particular 2016 flagship smartphone from the world’s third largest smartphone manufacturer is about to pick up the Android 7.0 Nougat update this March on a global scale.
Of course, we all know that the Huawei P9 has just been outdated by the recent announcement of the Huawei P10 at the recently concluded MWC 2017 in Barcelona, Spain. At least Huawei has kept to their promise to deliver the Android 7.0 Nougat update to their 2016 flagship P9 soonest possible. It is seen as a slight delay by some though, as the Android 7.0 Nougat update was originally slated for an early 2017 release, and we are already in the final month of the first quarter. Well, better late than never! It must be remembered that the Android 7.0 Nougat update was released for the Huawei P9 in December last year, although that was only in the China market. At least the rest of the world will now be able to play catch up before April rolls around.
The new 2017 flagships from Huawei, the Huawei P10 and P10 Plus will run on the spanking new EMUI 5.1 user interface that runs on top of Android, and the Android 7.0 Nougat update will be accompanied by EMUI 5.0 on the Huawei P9 by the end of the first quarter. Well, that would mean not having too much longer to wait, is there? After all, it would be three and a half weeks at most, and anything earlier than that would be a bonus. Obviously, a global rollout will take more time than normal to arrive on all Huawei P9 smartphones out there, so be patient if your region or country has not picked it up just yet while you hear of others online already enjoying all that Android 7.0 Nougat and EMUI 5.0 has to offer.

Check out Huawei India's tweet as seen above, which is the official source for this particularly glorious day. All Huawei P9 owners, it is time to rejoice! At least you will be on par with the most recent version of Android, although it would be nicer if the Huawei P9 would arrive with Android 7.1.1 Nougat or even Android 7.1.2 Nougat like on the Nexus 6P.
It is also widely expected that the latest Android 7.0 Nougat update that will arrive on the Huawei P9 alongside the spanking new EMUI 5.0 will be accompanied by the most recent security patch that has been released by Google. So far, no issues have been reported by anyone who has updated their Huawei P9, so it should be pretty safe to go ahead with the update.
