iPhone 8 Schematic Spotted, Wireless Charging A Possibility

The iPhone 8 is all set to be the best selling device from Apple this year as it is released later in 2017. It also does help a whole lot that this is the 10th anniversary of the iPhone, too, and so emotions might get into the picture where the iPhone 8 sales are concerned. Having said that, Apple has been pretty good at keeping secrets, especially when it comes to yet-unreleased hardware. Hence, the Internet clamors for just about anything that has to do with new Apple products, and the upcoming iPhone 8 has piqued the interest of many, that is for sure. Here we are with a new iPhone 8 schematic spotted.

The latest schematic appeared on Weibo, which is China’s version of Twitter. The drawing showcases the purported iPhone 8 in a greater degree of detail, including labels for a slew of its internal components. There will be cameras in front as well as at the back, but what is more puzzling is the lack of a rear Touch ID sensor. Does this mean that Touch ID will be integrated into the OLED display? Only time will be able to tell as the iPhone 8 is officially released.

What makes the latest iPhone 8 schematic leak even sweeter than it already is? There are parts of the device within that points to it being set up for wireless charging capability, now how about that? There is an antenna gap, a light and proximity sensor, dual cameras, a secondary antenna gap that is positioned symmetrically opposite, a main motherboard which has been given a yellow shade, a power button, battery, Qi wireless charging coils, Taptic Engine, Lightning port, a couple more antenna gaps, speaker, and a supposed ‘wireless charging module’.

With a couple of wireless charging parts being part of the deal, it does seem to jive with what analysts have been saying for a long time now -- that the components within will be able to support wireless charging, and under the Qi standard. At the moment, we do know that the Apple Watch charger makes use of a variant of Qi technology, and Apple did sign up to be a member of the Wireless Power consortium in February this year. Hence, it would not be surprising to see the iPhone 8 come with wireless charging as well as Qi support.

Apple also seemed to have paved the way internally in the iPhone 8 in order to transform wireless charging into reality. Apart from that large coil within, the presence of another square wireless charging module is located right smack in the lower left corner. If wireless charging is about to arrive on the iPhone 8, there is only one thing that we can say, “It is about time.” After all, the iPhone’s rivals have long supported wireless charging, notable the Samsung Galaxy S series, for some time now, and to see Apple play catch up is more of a relief than anything else if they would like to secure their place in front of the smartphone arms race.
