Compared to most players in the NFL, Percy Harvin is still considered as relatively young. This is particularly the reason why reports about his retirement are surprising.

There is no official word yet if Harvin really did retire but according to Pro Football Talk, a source who claims to have inside-information about the league said that the wide receiver told his current team, the Buffalo Bills, that he is retiring.

Harvin is only 27 years old and has been in the NFL since 2009. But, looking back at his professional career, one can probably say that it's not that fulfilling especially for Harvin. Despite this, he did have a few highlights in his career.

He debuted in the NFL after he was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings. During the opening game of 2009, he was able to make his first touchdown pass in a game against the Cleveland Browns. This feat continued for two more games, making him the first Viking player to score touchdowns in his first three games.

However, on the following year, Harvin suffered various illnesses which caused him to miss a couple of the team's games. Then, in 2013, he was traded to the Seattle Seahawks but only managed to play two games for the team because of his health condition. One of these was during Super Bowl XLVIII where he managed to score a touchdown, which helped the Seahawks secure the championship.

After just spending a year with the team, he was traded to the New York Jets. However, he only lasted for one season with the team after it was able to acquire Brandon Marshall.

When the 2015 season rolled in, he was able to find a new home in the Buffalo Bills. But, after only playing five games with the team, he was placed on injured reserve.

Harvin might have noticed he's stuck in a cycle that's preventing him from being an effective NFL player. This could be the main reason as to why he's retiring from the NFL. But then again, since he hasn't officially confirmed it yet, it's not yet clear if he has already decided to end his career as a professional football player.
