"Counting On" star Jill Duggar Dillard and her husband, Derick have announced their unborn son will be called "Samuel Scott Dillard" - a Bible name inspired by their faith.
"We are so excited to announce the name of Baby Dillard #2!" the couple wrote in a June 6 blog post. "We can't wait to welcome him to the world and have him join our family very soon!"
The pair also shared a photo of the two of them with their son Israel, aged two, whose name means "may God prevail." Like Israel, Samuel is an Old Testament name of Hebrew origin meaning either "name of God" or "God has heard".
Back in 2011, Jill and her family made a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, and the Duggars considered it the "trip of a lifetime" because it made God's word come to life. Derick also reportedly bought Jill's engagement ring in Israel, revealing she "really likes" the country.
Jill and Derick first announced in 2016 they were having a second child: "Children really are a wonderful blessing from God," the pair said. "Having Israel has been such a delight to us that we know a second sweet baby will only continue to add joy to our family. We are thankful to God for this sweet child and we cannot wait to see her or him face to face!'
Last month, Jill shared a pregnancy update in which she hinted at her son's name:
"The pregnancy is going well thus far, as we make it into the home stretch now," she wrote. "'Little Samuelito' (as the locals call him) sometimes wakes mommy up at night now with his active kicking."
Jill is due in July, according to People Magazine. The family just returned to the U.S. after completing Christian mission work in Central America, and is currently living in Arkansas.
In an earlier blog post, Jill revealed a family friend, German Daniel Serrano Orellana, was tragically kidnapped and murdered in Central America:
"We received a phone call on Monday from a friend here in Central America informing us that one of our other good friends (a fellow Christian) had been murdered the day before and that his family had found his body down by the river earlier that morning!"
"As you'll recall from our last email, we talked about these friends of ours who we'd had the opportunity to invite into the hospitality house for a meal recently as they have been going through a really tough time after the death of his grandmother and murder of his 20 year old cousin and then the stroke his daughter had when she received the news.
"Now they have been spending most of the time in their home for fear of being kidnapped or killed as violence has escalated in their area. Even though we had spoke with our friend and his family about the realities of the dangers here, and especially in their area right now, we were shocked when we learned of his kidnap and murder. We've had them into our home three times in the past couple weeks!"
A new season of Counting On returns June 12 on TLC.
