EA Sports will release Madden 17 on August 23 Forbes

During E3 2016, game developer EA Sports revealed new details about the much-awaited Madden NFL 17. The latest installment in the American Football game series will bring new gameplay, revamped in-game presentation and improvements in Franchise mode. Now, here's what is currently known about Madden 17 release date, gameplay and new features.

Mercury News reported one of the biggest changes in Madden franchise is the introduction of a new broadcast team. Previous entries have been criticized for monotonous delivery style commentary and generic lines. Instead of Jim Nantz and Phil Simms, players will now listen to voices of Brandon Gaudin and Charles Davis. Gamers should expect an updated commentary as the season goes on. For example, if there's a major injury in real-life NFL season, Gaudin and Davis may mention it on video game commentary.

Furthermore, Madden 17 will introduce huge changes in the Franchise mode. Dubbed as "Play the Moment," the new system will allow players to quickly jump in the season's highlights. The idea behind the new system is that players will be able to speed up the franchise mode so they can finish the campaign in a span of just one weekend.

EA Sports also added a game plan element that takes place between game days. With this feature, players will be able to practice defensive and offensive plays to counter an upcoming opponent.

There are also improvements in gameplay. Players can expect an upgrade on the defensive side of the ball. EA Sports improved how defensive backs play zone so A.I players are smarter when it comes to coverage. Gaming analysts said the changes will allows players to trust their teammates better on the defensive end of the field.

For Madden NFL 17's other modes, game designer Clint Oldenburg said Ultimate Team and Draft Champions would also have updates. He did not reveal the full details but he said fans should stay tuned for more updates.

Madden NFL 17 will be released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on Aug 23.

Interestingly, the game might also land on desktop computers. An Amazon listing shows Madden 17 will be launched on Windows PC on August. It also shows a number of new features for the game, such as the Ball-Carrier Feedback System, a quicker Franchise mode, and others. The last Madden game that was released on PC was Madden 2008.
