Marvel vs. Capcom proved to be quite a hit when it first came out in the arcades, and obviously there was money to be made in porting the title over to home consoles. After all, it was a novel idea -- bringing together the heroes of both universes in a match up that had plenty going for it. Now that it is 2017, it is long overdue for another outing by characters from both universes, and Capcom does not disappoint with September 19 being the launch date for Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite. So far, 8 new fighters have been confirmed, as we see both Ultron and Sigma come together to bring a threat that is quite unlike any before faced by our favorite heroes.

The coming together of Ultron and Sigma, who have un-creatively called themselves as “Ultron-Sigma”, seems to wield immeasurable power, making me wonder whether the likes of Captain America should even be there in the first place. After all, you might be the pinnacle example of a human athlete in his prime with all of the tactical abilities fused into your brain, but how do you go up against a foe so strong, that he is able to eradicate you with sheer power alone? The shield can only go so far, you know. Well, that is a question for Captain America’s fanboys to answer, and the same applies to the likes of Hawkeye and Chris Redfield from the Resident Evil series.

I suppose we can say that Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite can be classified to be a true fusion of both iconic universes. In this brand new title that is set to hit the video game universe this autumn, chaos is coming, and combatants from both sides will have to team up to challenge Ultron-Sigma. I suppose if there were to be a DC vs. Capcom crossover, we might see Cyborg Sigma, who knows? That is another speculation for a different time.

No doubt that there will be a Story Mode in the game, where you will be able to save the universe once again with your mad gaming skills and the best of characters from both universes. The game’s scope does not end there though, since there will be other modes to enjoy -- Arcade, Training, and Mission modes, in addition to something that many would look forward too: multiplayer. Now that is the true test of skill, as you go up head to head against another human being. to consider, plus various multiplayer offerings, naturally.

Just which particular character would make the cut? From what we know, Ultron, Hulk, Thor, Hawkeye, Rocket Raccoon, Chun-Li, Strider Hiryu, and Chris Redfield have been confirmed. Pre-orders have already kicked off, with the Standard Edition costing a whopping $59.99. Those who place a pre-order for the Standard Edition will receive Warrior Thor and Evil Ryu Premium Costumes, while the $89.99 Deluxe Edition will feature Warrior Thor, Evil Ryu, Gladiator Hulk and Command Mission X costumes, in addition to the 2017 Character Pass that provides access to half a dozen post-launch characters. Last but not least, there is the $199.99 Collector’s Edition that will offer four detailed, interlinking dioramas from TriForce, LED-powered Infinity Stones as well as the Deluxe Edition of the game.
