The son of Michael Schumacher is carving out his own legacy on the racetrack, despite the fact there are few health updates on the status of the legendary Formula 1 driver.

In a report written by Julian Robinson for the Daily Mail, 16-year-old Mick Schumacher returned to the racing circuit just weeks after being involved in a crash with speeds up to 100 mph. He also accidentally skidded out of the track through the Lausitzring speedway in Brandenburg, Germany back in March.

"Of course we know that his father is a seven-time world champion," Frits van Amersfoort said. "But I want to emphasize that Mick will take the time to learn the trade of the racing driver."

According to Will Dale of Fox Sports, Mick has driven a Formula-style race car for the first time in public. He is racing in Formula 4 in Germany this year for the Van Amersfoort Racing team after having a successful run in karting.

"The test, his second in a Formula 4 machine, gave Mick a small taste of the media attention his father faced during his career with cameras recording his every movement," Dale wrote.

Dale reported that Sabine Kehm, who is the manager of both Schumacher and his son, urged the media to give space and time to allow the teenager to hone his racing skills.

"We mustn't forget that this is a young boy who has just turned 16," Kehm said. "From my point of view, and this is something I want to primarily ensure, we shouldn't raise expectations too high."

Kehm added that Mick "will gain a lot of new experience this year and, at the same time, do everything to give his best."

"But of course, I would like to ask very much for restraint so that he can really call on his best possible performance," Kehm said.

As for Schumacher's recovery status, the Daily Mail reported that he emerged from his induced coma in June last year and left hospital in September. A family friend has claimed that 46-year-old Schumacher is starting to recognize family members.

"We need a long time," Kehm said. "He is making progress appropriate to the severity of the situation."

According to the Daily Mail, former Formula 1 driver Philippe Streiff claimed on French media that Schumacher "has yet to recover the power of speech." However, Schumacher's manager has disputed those comments, adding that he faces a "long fight" for recovery and that Streiff was not a family friend.
