Microsoft Surface Models vs. Apple MacBooks: Microsoft’s Trade-in Programs Says Surface Beating MacBook Pro

The rivalry is on. Microsoft recently proudly announced that the November sales of its Surface devices are their best month yet. Also, the tech giant threw a little bit of shade to Apple’s new MacBook Pro and boasted that a lot of users are switching from Mac to Surface.

The two tech giants both unveiled new devices back in October like the new MacBook Pro with Touch Bar for Apple and the Surface Studio all-in-one PC and an updated Surface Book with Performance Base for Microsoft. The latter posted on its Windows blog site that November saw their best Surface sales. The tech company listed its accomplishments that include a sold out Surface bundle in Best Buy during its first day as well as the Germany’s best-seller Surface Pen in PC Accessories on Amazon.com for over 12 hours.

Microsoft also cited several reasons why people seem to be switching from Macs to Surface. The trade-in program for MacBook, innovative features of their Surface devices and the “disappointment of the new MacBook Pro” could have driven users to leave their Mac. It also helps that the Surface devices actually offer satisfaction to customers that the latest Apple products fail to do.

Though the company did not release a follow-up to the Microsoft Surface Pro 4, it takes pride in the Surface Studio and the Surface Book with Performance Base. Microsoft’s laptop was upgraded with more graphics power and battery life. The device’s battery can last 30 percent longer than its previous version. The new Surface Book is now made available in Australia and New Zealand aside from the US and Canada. Microsoft added that it would also be released in more markets like China, Japan, and the UK early next quarter.

But the highlight of the Microsoft Event last October was the Surface Studio. The creative-friendly all-in-one PC has been well received by digital artists, architects, and even executives. Microsoft made sure to mention that the launch video for the Surface Studio currently has over 10 million views.

As for the rivalry between its Surface devices and Apple’s MacBook, Microsoft Devices Marketing Corporate VP Brian Hall said, “It seems like a new review recommending Surface over MacBook comes out daily. This makes our team so proud because it means we’re doing good work.”

Hall cited an article by PC Mag’s Sascha Segan who replaced his 2011 MacBook Pro with a Surface Book instead of the new MacBook Pro with Touch Bar. Segan is only among other professionals who are not really impressed with the new MacBook Pro laptops. According to Digital Trends, complaints regarding the Apple laptop involve the AMD graphics chip, the inability to upgrade the storage at a later date, failure to address the needs of the professional market and more.
