Nabeel Qureshi has said he is "encouraged and hopeful" that he will beat cancer and announced he will soon undergo highly expensive immunotherapy treatment thanks to donations given to him via GoFundMe.
In a video blog update posted on Tuesday, Qureshi, who is suffering from advanced-stage stomach cancer, said, "The immunotherapy looks like it will happen, thanks so much from the funding from the GoFundMe."
He added that a private donor has agreed to pay for the first three rounds of the immunotherapy treatment. Qureshi's supporters have raised nearly $300,000 for his cancer treatment in less than two weeks since he launched the crowdfunding campaign.
"I shouldn't have to draw from the GoFundMe for the first three rounds but there are four of this particular one," Qureshi said. "We will be able to pay for it. We are trying to see if we can get the price reduced but they are going off money that I made last year."
The evangelist said he recently found out that the FDA approved a new type of immunotherapy for his type of cancer if there are certain mutations within the tumor.
"We will see if that mutation is present within the tumor in my stomach. If it is, I shall have another option for immunotherapy, which should be covered by my [health insurance] since the FDA has approved it," he said.
He added, "Exciting avenues and prospects. I continue to look into other alternative methods of treatment, and so I'm encouraged, I'm hopeful."
Should he pass away, the proceeds from the GoFundMe account would go to help his baby daughter, Ayah, and wife, Michelle, pay for Ayah's education and other costs.
Qureshi closed his update with prayer: "I praise you, Lord, that you have given me such a fantastic community and that people are shouldering the burden with me."
He added, "These brothers and sisters of mine do have faith for healing, and they see that Your will, whenever somebody was brought to You for healing, Your will was to heal them God, so they believe the example of Scripture, and they believe that it is Your will to heal me. I praise you for that faith that they have, even if they are wrong."
As reported, in a previous vlog post, Qureshi's wife, Michelle, said that while witnessing her husband's battle with cancer has been incredibly difficult, God has enabled her to have an "overwhelming peace."
"Since September, I have had this just overwhelming peace about this whole situation, a peace that means this is going to lead to healing," she said, adding that she had felt the peace even before she and her husband started to receive prophetic words about healing. "So I believe it's coming from the Holy Spirit."
"When we went through that really rough time with radiation ... nothing has shaken my hope because that peace is there," she said.
Qureshi affirmed his wife's words and praised her for being "a tremendous source of encouragement," for always believing that he would come through because God has great plans for him.
"in this past year, for me to have her be the solid pillar of support and encouragement has been such a great blessing," Qureshi said. He encouraged husbands and wives "to love one another tremendously and to be a source of hope when the other one's faltering."
