Will LeBron James stay home in Ohio or will the lure of Hollywood prove too tempting? Among the big questions now going around in the NBA circuit is where King James plans to take his business next. Rumors said the LA Lakers beckon and the Cavs superstar seems willing to go west but there remains a strong case to keep playing for Cleveland.
Amidst the rumors that James is again considering a change in uniform and listing the Lakers and Clippers as his options, Bleacher Report said there's no compelling need for the Cavs marquee player to get out of Ohio again, and it all depends on how the Cleveland front office will play its cards. The key objective is to keep James happy.
How to make it happen? First thing is to provide a stable management leadership for the team following the abrupt firing of David Griffin. It was clear that Griffin's departure came as a surprise even to James and if only to extinguish the restiveness that reportedly now prevails on the Cavaliers roster, team owner Dan Gilbert will need to find a replacement that foremost James will accept and willing to work with.
That concern addressed, the Cavs will need to ensure that going to Season 2017-18 the team has a better chance of winning the Larry O'Brien Trophy. Cleveland will need to build up and the obvious benchmark is the Golden State Warriors. The need of the hour is to recruit superstars to beef up the Cavs in an anticipated repeat 2018 NBA Finals showdown with GSW.
Easily, among the big names that come to mind is Paul George and per the latest from the Indiana Pacers the superstar is currently on the trading block. Bleacher Report said adding George to the Cavs roster will certainly translate into a huge boost for the team as the man is the perfect match against the Warriors' Kevin Durant, offensively and defensively.
Cleveland should also consider the NBA starts that are known as close pals to James as doing so will accomplish two things - further increase the chance of the Cavs winning the NBA 2018 title and make James happy. The talents to actively pursue are Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul and Dwayne Wade, the latter, according to Fox Sports, the Cavs will need to buy out from the Chicago Bulls.
Now when the Cavs front office leadership issue would have been resolved and the team lineup would have been bolstered with names bearing undisputed star-power, the next step for the Ohio club is to convince King James to stop looking elsewhere and end his career in Cleveland. This can be done by offering him a five-year deal worth $209.4 million, which Bleacher Report said James is unlikely to get from anywhere else.
And the best part of the deal - James will need not pack and relocate to Los Angeles then relish "the opportunity to watch his sons play at his former high school may," the report said.
It's hard to imagine that with all the elements mentioned above the Cleveland Cavaliers will secure for James the latter would still toy with the idea of playing hoops with Lonzo Ball donning the Lakers jersey.
