The victory of the Golden State Warriors over the Cleveland Cavaliers in the previous NBA season had been a widely talked about feat - one that even pushed many to compare Stephen Curry and LeBron James over and over. With a new NBA season set to begin soon, it looks like the Golden State Warriors are entering the scene with the championship team more or less intact. The NBA offseason saw very minimal changes in the roster of the Golden State Warriors, with the team presumably opting to stick to its winning formula and choosing to boost the strengths of its current basketball roster.

In fact, the NBA offseason only saw the Golden State Warriors add Sacramento Kings star Jason Thompson. Hence, it does not come as a surprise when critics and sports analysts continue to dismiss the Golden State Warriors as potential NBA champions this season despite the fact that the Stephen Curry team hold the title. Fans and followers see the Cleveland Cavaliers as the more deserving NBA team to hold the title - especially with a healthy roster composed of LeBron James, Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving. The Los Angeles Clippers are also garnering attention following the signing of NBA greats such as Paul Pierce, Josh Smith and Lance Stephenson as well as the re-signing of DeAndre Jordan following a tumultuous negotiation with the Dallas Mavericks. However, it was the addition of LaMarcus Aldridge in the San Antonio Spurs roster that had the NBA community excited. It remains to be seen how these additions and renewed contracts will fare once these teams come face to face with the Golden State Warriors.

Apart from Jason Thompson, the Golden State Warriors recently signed power guard Juwan Staten. The 5-foot-11-inch star from West Virginia inked a one year deal with the NBA team following an impressive run in the NCAA. Prior to signing with the Golden State Warriors, the power guard first worked with the Sacramento Kings. While Juwan Staten could not rack up points like Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, the newly minted Golden State Warriors star could bolster the defense of the NBA team.

"Golden State is best known for its high-powered offensive attack, led by the dynamic guard tandem of Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson," shared Tim Daniels of Bleacher Report. The sports analyst went on to point out, "Staten can't come anywhere close to that duo's scoring prowess (he shot 43 percent from the field in college), but he's a terrific defender."
