John Wall is optimistic that he'll be able to join the Washington Wizards in their opening game after suffering double knee injuries last season. However, the athlete has not yet been cleared to play, which means he might miss the team's first few games in the upcoming season.

During the 2015-2016 NBA season, Wall underwent surgery for both his left and right knees. According to the Washington Post, the medical procedure done on his right knee was only a minor one. However, the surgery on his left knee was more serious. He would have probably ended up sitting out the rest of the Wizards' games if the team's season didn't end early.

But, according to Wall, he's feeling much better now and can endure workout sessions. He even believes that he'll be able to play with the Wizards as they open their regular season on Oct. 27 at a match against the Atlanta Hawks.

"I'm doing all that right now, working out and doing all that type of things, but I'm not in no rush," Wall told the Washington Post. "I'm very excited to be back on the court because I will tell you sitting on the table all day and doing those boring exercises is no fun."

"Six hours out of the day, it's the frustrating part in this," he added.

In preparation for the upcoming season, Wall is planning on travelling to Los Angeles to join his teammates for a minicamp. But since he has not yet been cleared to play, Wall will most likely take it easy during the practice and workout sessions.

"It's all up to me," he said. "I'm doing two times a day, attacking it the best way I can, and I'm attacking like I'm playing in a basketball game. That's trying to do the best I can and getting stronger and making sure I don't have the same problems later down the road in my career. So I think I'll be fine."

As noted by ESPN, if the doctors tell Wall to sit out the opening match of the Wizards, then head coach Scott Brooks will probably use Trey Burke to temporarily replace him as the team's point guard.
