NBA Rumors: New York Knicks Targeting Jahlil Okafor Through Justin Holiday Trade

New reports are suggesting that the New York Knicks are planning on going after Jahlil Okafor through a trade deal with the Philadelphia 76ers. In exchange, the Knicks will reportedly give up Justin Holiday.

Ever since the offseason started, the Knicks have been busy trying to rebuild a stronger roster since they are not happy with finishing at the 13th stop in last season's Eastern Conference. Since then, the New York team have started acquiring various talented athletes through trade or free agency. One of these deals involved getting Derrick Rose from the Chicago Bulls.

Now, according to reports, the Knicks are once again eyeing another potential addition to their roster. This time, it's Okafor from Philadelphia.

Earlier this week, 76ers team manager and president Bryan Colangelo admitted that the team has a surplus of centers. Although he appreciates the talent of these athletes, he noted that the number of big men in the lineup is creating an unbalance within the team.

Because of this, the Philadelphia franchise became the target of various trade rumors.

As reported by Sportsrageous, the Knicks could alleviate the 76ers' current dilemma with their roster by getting Okafor in exchange for Holiday. This could be a win-win for both teams since the 76ers will have one less center to worry about. In addition, they'll get a shooting guard who could possibly even out the unbalance in the lineup.

Of course based on performance alone, giving up Okafor in exchange for Holiday is not a fair trade for the Knicks. But, according to All About Knicks, the New York team could throw in a 2017 first round pick as part of a deal.

However, since these are just based on speculations, it is not yet clear if a trade deal between the Knicks and the 76ers will really take place in the future. After all, Colangelo said that although they have already received calls from other teams regarding their centers, they currently have no plans on releasing them.

"We're not going to make a bad deal just to make a deal," he said according to Real GM. "I think we can be a better basketball team if we can distribute that talent better."
